'68 Pontiac GTO Ram Air Convertible, 4spd, Factory 4:33 rear Triple Black!
This 1968 GTO is one of 92 produced with the Ram Air package. She is factory equipped with a 4 speed close ratio
manual shift transmission with 4.33 Posi-Traction rear axle, as verified by the PHS docs. According to PHS, only 5
black on black Ram Air GTO convertible are known to have been produced. The '68 Ram Air GTO is the only
convertible GM equipped with a 4.33 rear end as standard equipment.
This fine example still retains her 100% numbers matching original drive train assembly. Sold new at Haynes
Pontiac in Hyannis, Mass, she also came factory equipped with "wonder-touch" power steering, front disc brakes,
rally gauges with tachometer, all soft-ray tinted glass, ride and handling package. Original wheels are shod in
vintage appearing Redline radials for superior ride and handling.
She presents as a factory stock driven show car, a fresh repaint on a fine older restoration that has been driven
on a limited basis. The undercarriage was also re-detailed to driven show car standards. A documented early Ram
Air GTO convertible, in factory triple black is a must have in any serious Pontiac collection.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
