This is a solid car - you will be happy. You turn the key and it roars! It is a daily driver that turns heads and gets noticed. I took it to a car show, and after being persuaded to enter it - it placed third! I have included several pics of the car. The paint is a fair older job that may need some TLC in the coming years, but from 10 ft. - it looks great. A few air pockets, but no breakthrough - look at the pics.
This was a Tempest Custom convertible with a V-6 and automatic that has been converted into a GTO. Big block 400, 4 speed on the floor and all correct badges. It has power brakes and steering and a really nice stereo as well. The amp is in the trunk, and it can be easily removed for a more "era correct" look. The rear speakers can be placed in the trunk of the back seat as shown if you usually drive with only two people.
The hidden headlights operate as they should and the convertible top does as well. A new switch has been installed to control the top and new fluid, lines and electrical hookups as well make the top glide just as it should. Everything works on the car but the gas gauge. Included is a hood mounted tach if you want to use it - or you can hook up the tach in the gauge cluster. I was going to go hood mounted, but I just haven't done it yet. The previous owner said the tach worked, but I have never hooked it up - you can shift this car by sound very easily!
As you can see in pics, this car is immaculate. I tried to get a few undercarriage pics without a lift, but they are not very good. The car is solid. You can actually drive it home, if you wish. It drives out great, and sounds even better. I would love for you to come look at it. I've had my fun - now it's someone else's turn. I am 51 and a cruiser, so you can rest assured that it hasn't been dogged!
Comes with hood tach, a brand new black era correct steering wheel, extra set of shocks, schematics and restoration info and whatever else I find that I have forgotten to mention. Why am I selling it? I have two Bronco's that I am working on (67 and 75), and I need to focus on them instead of heading to the lake every weekend in this Bad Boy! Look at my feedback - I've sold cars, motorcycles, boats, etc. I try to be as honest as I can - and I bet you like this car! I did when I got it, and I've only made it better! Please ask any questions - and Yes - I will help with shipping - if you go that route. I will warn you, though - there will be a few wires loosened in travel as well as a vac line or two. I had to go through the entire car when it arrived!
Payment has to clear - and I have a small note left on the car thru JJ Best Banc - so you can use them for financing - they've inspected the car! Got to pay them off to get your title, so it may be 72 hours or so after payment - They are quick!

A pair of Mitsubishis, the Mazda CX-30 and electric incentives | Autoblog Podcast #673
Fri, Apr 9 2021This week's Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski as they debate the merits of the redesigned Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 coupes and whether or not they are distinctive and powerful enough to attract buyers. The duo spends some time discussing ongoing EV and infrastructure legislation before turning their attention to a trio of crossovers. Greg muses about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 before Jeremy talks about the refreshed 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and completely redesigned Outlander. We get nostalgic as we remember the dearly departed Pontiac GTO before wrapping the podcast up by making one more suggestion to a longtime listener who is shopping for a vehicle to replace her aging Honda Pilot. Porsche Boxster Spyder to get GT3's 4.0-liter flat six?
Sun, Feb 4 2018It's been a merry-go-round the past few months, the rumormill focused on what will power the next Porsche Boxster Spyder. First came hearsay of a flat-six going into the special edition of a model line known for its turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Then came tattling that the flat-six in question was the naturally aspirated, 4.0-liter from the 911 GT3. A couple of weeks ago we wrote " we'd be surprised if Porsche packed anything other than a turbocharged flat-four under the skin." But Autocar has a new report that, indeed, a downtuned version of the 500-horsepower 4.0-liter from the GT3's rump will move to the Boxster Spyder's midsection. The Autocar piece follows a Wheels magazine article from last November, and the prediction isn't outrageous. When Car and Driver reviewed the last Boxster Spyder, it wrote, "the hand-me-down six comes from the older 911 Carrera S, not to be confused with the new turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six that powers the refreshed 911." If we can believe a recent report from Automobile about the 992-series 911 due later this year, the same thing is happening: The 991.2-series GT3 bequeaths its powerplant to the smaller sibling, and the 992-series GT3 moves to a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-six with around 550 hp. Autocar quotes Andreas Preuninger, the Porsche engineer leading the development of all of these wunderkinds, saying of the Boxster earlier this year, "Natural aspiration is one of our main USPs. ... [We] think we can achieve throttle response and immediacy a little bit better with an atmospheric high-revving engine than any kind of turbo." We'll guess that means, by inference, that the GT3 is about to age out of naturally-aspirated university. The limited-edition Boxster Spyder might carry the torch with the 4.0-liter, with output somewhere around 430 hp. The Cayman GT4 could do the same. Or, who knows, an evolution of the 375-hp, 3.8-liter flat-six in the previous Boxster Spyder might burble out of left field. We expect to see the Boxster Spyder late this year. Until then, we'll wait to see what the merry-go-round says next time the Zuffenhausen horse comes around. Fiero-based Zimmer Quicksilver was objectively terrible, but we'd totally drive it
Wed, Jan 19 2022Now here's something you don't see everyday. It's listed in our classified ads as a 1986 Pontiac Fiero, but as you can see, that description is a bit misleading. In fact, it's a Zimmer Quicksilver, which was indeed built atop the guts of a mid-engine Fiero coupe but was heavily modified by the Zimmer Motorcars Corporation at a facility in Pompano Beach, Florida. And the one you see here actually seems to be a pretty decent deal for a highly unusual car. We're not sure what was a more popular starting point for kit and custom cars in the 1980s and 1990s, but it would have to be either the Fiero or the vintage air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle. Fiero-based machines usually mimicked the design direction of any number of highly desirable Italian stallions, most commonly, we'd guess, the Lamborghini Countach. The Quicksilver is an altogether different animal, with over a foot of extra wheelbase added in front of the A-pillar to make for a dramatic, long and low silhouette that somehow still only has barely enough room for two passengers in its leather- and wood-lined interior. A stock 2.8-liter V6 engine from General Motors is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission that sends 140 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. Period road tests found the 0-60 run took a little over 10 seconds, which is terrible today but wasn't all that bad for the mid '80s. Best we can tell, only around 170 Quicksilvers were made between 1984 and 1988, which are, not coincidentally, the same years that Pontiac produced the Fiero. The 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver you see here is priced at $18,495 and shows well under 30,000 miles on the odometer. There aren't a lot of Zimmer Quicksilvers currently for sale for us to compare, but the ones we did find that had sold within the last few years suggest a little under $20,000 is a reasonable asking price. It could be a fun and offbeat addition to the garage, and if nothing else, you're not likely to see another one at your local car show. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party.
