1968 Pontiac Gto Base 6.6l on 2040-cars

From the deep purple base to the "jump off the hood " flames there is nothing subtle about this car. You are looking at a 1968 Pontiac GTO. This is not a replica of a GTO . This is not a completely stock unrestored original GTO either . This is a vintage car , that has been maintained to last , and has been slightly modified so that at any time it could be pressed into service. It is a drivers car . Hop in , sit down , turn key and gooooo! Look at the pics closely. This was a total repaint and body job done some years ago . The body was very clean to begin with that's the main reason it has held up so well . I took pics of all the issues that I could find as far as the body is concerned. On a close inspection I would say the body and undercarriage would rate a 90% , taking into consideration it's a 1968 . You will see a bit of corrosion starting on the inside lower edge of both doors. Just starting to bubble . Considering that the paint is almost 10 years old , that's awesome! Rest of the paint is holding up great , simply look at the pics and see for yourself . Frame and underbody is as nice as the top side. There is a bit of gravel burn and some light surface rust on the backside of the rockers ( where you would expect rust to start) . The undercarraiage has always been washed and never driven in the salt . Factory wheels correct for the year . Has a set of "purple" underbody lights , so folks will not miss you even at night . Interior is very clean and mostly stock with exception of gauge pack . Headliner is in nice shape. Couple of small rock chips in the front paint . Factory chrome bumpers and rocker trim and emblems are solid and shine like the sun . The engine has been "massaged" for a bit more power. Nothing major , but the basics have been "tweaked" . Mild street cam , Elderbrock manifold and ignition , holley carb , that sort of thing . Factory quick change rear end in 4:11 ( not sure ,but definetly low ) This was built to run . Sure you can get more power out of this setup but at what cost ? This is a reliable ride . You can park this in your garage and hook it up to a battery tender , come back in six months time unhook the tender , pump the gas 4-5 times and hit the switch , and she roars to life ! Numbers do not match engine/chassis. If that is important to you then order a new block and get it stamped with any # you want. Bushings ,shocks , rod ends , brakes , all tight . Maybe you can drive it home and visit rte 66 on the way , who knows ? The car is up to it , are you?

Porsche Boxster Spyder to get GT3's 4.0-liter flat six?
Sun, Feb 4 2018It's been a merry-go-round the past few months, the rumormill focused on what will power the next Porsche Boxster Spyder. First came hearsay of a flat-six going into the special edition of a model line known for its turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Then came tattling that the flat-six in question was the naturally aspirated, 4.0-liter from the 911 GT3. A couple of weeks ago we wrote " we'd be surprised if Porsche packed anything other than a turbocharged flat-four under the skin." But Autocar has a new report that, indeed, a downtuned version of the 500-horsepower 4.0-liter from the GT3's rump will move to the Boxster Spyder's midsection. The Autocar piece follows a Wheels magazine article from last November, and the prediction isn't outrageous. When Car and Driver reviewed the last Boxster Spyder, it wrote, "the hand-me-down six comes from the older 911 Carrera S, not to be confused with the new turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six that powers the refreshed 911." If we can believe a recent report from Automobile about the 992-series 911 due later this year, the same thing is happening: The 991.2-series GT3 bequeaths its powerplant to the smaller sibling, and the 992-series GT3 moves to a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-six with around 550 hp. Autocar quotes Andreas Preuninger, the Porsche engineer leading the development of all of these wunderkinds, saying of the Boxster earlier this year, "Natural aspiration is one of our main USPs. ... [We] think we can achieve throttle response and immediacy a little bit better with an atmospheric high-revving engine than any kind of turbo." We'll guess that means, by inference, that the GT3 is about to age out of naturally-aspirated university. The limited-edition Boxster Spyder might carry the torch with the 4.0-liter, with output somewhere around 430 hp. The Cayman GT4 could do the same. Or, who knows, an evolution of the 375-hp, 3.8-liter flat-six in the previous Boxster Spyder might burble out of left field. We expect to see the Boxster Spyder late this year. Until then, we'll wait to see what the merry-go-round says next time the Zuffenhausen horse comes around. The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
