This Pontiac GTO is for sale and is a project car. It does have motor and motor parts. It does not have transmission. It has a 12 bolt rear end. The parts I have are short block No. 085985-WT, casting No. 86133, Date 10-26-66. One set of open chamber heads #62, 1 set closed chamber heads No. 670A, 1 4 barrel intake June of 1969 code and QuadraJet carbureator, one tripower intake numbers I found 541690. middle carbureator missing. Do have bell housing and fly wheel. Trunk deck lid has rust holes, very easy fix. Trunk floor pan has rust holes but an easy patch. Inner fender wells are good. Will need full rear quarters, right and left. Doors are in good condition. Rockers have chrome at bottom. Did not remove. Condition unknown. Fenders right and left has rust holes at bottom, small. Hood has surface rust underneath and two pin holes. Front bumper will need work. Rear bumper needs rechrome. All door glass is working and no cracks. Will need windshield. Front inner fenders good. Will need dash pad. Has rally pack gauges in dash. Front floors very good, seat mounts good. Rear floor pan right side--4 small holes will need patch--see pictures. Under rear seat has holes--see pictures. Front cowl very good. Car has factory p/s and p/b. Purchased the car as a project and found a 68 Camaro project that I like better. Has hideaway head lights. I do believe the car may have come originally with a 3 speed manual transmission, but it has the 4 speed center tunnel. Clutch pedal and all still intact. Have a clear Virginia title. Last tag was 7-5-83. It has been parked since in building. Call 336-504-4250 for questions. I am relisting this--the previous emailed and said his funds were not available in time for him to get the car. He did pay my listing and selling fees. Some things happen that are out of our control. I am now listing for 5 days as I will be out of time on 11/25. Thanks and sorry about any inconvenience this may have caused anyone. Have a blessed day! |

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible
Sun, Jan 8 2023GM's Pontiac Division sold its first convertibles during the 1927 model year (just a year after the division's creation), then proceeded to offer memorable drop-tops for most of the following 83 years. The best-selling convertible to bear Pontiac badges during our current century was the retractable-hardtop-equipped G6, available from the G6's introduction in 2006 through the second-to-last model year of 2009 (the Sunfire convertible was available just through 2000, while the Firebird convertible vanished with the demise of the slow-selling Firebird itself after 2002). Here's one of those G6 GT convertibles, found in a Denver-region boneyard after a crash ended its driving career. Mashed right front, popped airbags. This sort of damage might have been worth repairing in 2009, but not today. The 2007 G6 was available as a coupe, sedan, or convertible. All the convertibles had the GT trim level and the 3.5-liter V6 and its 224 horsepower. The MSRP on this car was $28,750 (about $42,325 in 2022 dollars), making it the most expensive G6. The power hardtop roof folded up into the trunk, leaving 1.8 cubic feet of trunk storage space with the top down. This Karmann-designed roof system made the interior much quieter than that of a traditional soft-top convertible. All G6s were built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, where Chevy Bolts are born today. The G6 was built through the 2010 model year, making it one of the very last Pontiac models (the Vibe also made it to 2010, though it was really a Toyota Matrix). In hindsight, 2007 turned out to be an ominous year for GM.
Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken
Fri, Feb 8 2019Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.
Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition
Tue, Aug 29 2017The W Platform proved to be extremely long-lived and versatile for General Motors, remaining in production from 1988 all the way through 2016. You had your Impalas and your Regals and your Cutlass Supremes, and of course the 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was a W-body. For the 2000 model year, Pontiac made the racy-looking Daytona 500 Edition Grand Prix, an example of which I just found in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. 2,000 of these cars were made, presumably because it was the year 2000, and each one sports plenty of cool-looking Daytona 500 graphics. Perhaps some Regal owner will buy these seats and swap them. This is the second junked Daytona 500 Grand Prix I have seen recently, after this one in Colorado. The Daytona 500 was about the same as the GTP version, with Eaton-supercharged 3800 engine making a respectable 240 horsepower. Disappointingly, this car has an automatic transmission. It never saw 150,000 miles, unlike most 21st-century W-bodies I see in wrecking yards. Featured Gallery Junked 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition View 21 Photos Auto News Pontiac Sedan
