1967 Pontiac Gto on 2040-cars

Year:1967 Mileage:40000
Location:

Northampton, Massachusetts, United States

For sale is a professionally restored 1967 GTO. I have owned this car since 1986 and am the second owner. The car has been adult owned and maintained since bought new. I have not driven the car in the last 10 years other than to get it inspected. The car was never driven in the winter since I have owned it, and only occasionally driven in the rain. I am thinning the heard, too busy with work and other responsibilities, and decided the car belongs in the hands of someone who will appreciate it as much as I do, but also enjoy driving it.

This car is a January 1976 GTO:

TR    223-B                   N-H     PAINT

          W  2LGR

            BODY BY FISHER

The car has OEM 5 spoke mag steel wheels with stainless steel trim rings, Hurst 4 speed Muncie A22 “rock crusher” transmission,  326CI engine, and Carter 4 barrel (quadrajet) carburetor.

The emblems note 400CI engine (which this car should have). I questioned the original owner when I bought the car asking when the engine was replaced. He claimed he never replaced the motor and that the 326CI engine was the engine in the car when he bought it new.

I had the motor rebuilt when I bought the car in 1986 at Warren’s Automotive, in Palmer, Massachusetts. This included rebuilt heads, new piston and rings, cam chain, main and rod bearings. The rebuilt motor has approximately 40,000 miles on it. The radiator was replaced with a 4-core radiator. I also have an aftermarket (Bob’s Pontiac) fan shroud that goes with the car, but I never installed. The rubber boot for the shift is also torn, and I have a new (Bob's Pontiac) rubber replacement boot that goes with the car, but also never installed.

I had the car painted in 1986 by Ricks Auto body in Springfield, MA. The entire car was stripped to bare metal, windshield and rear window removed, interior removed, front fenders grill etc., removed to eliminate masking errors and provide OEM paint finish quality. Car was checked/measured on their frame machine to confirm no prior accidents.

While at Ricks Auto body, the rear window pan was replaced and the passenger side front windshield post was repaired where the post and firewall connect. All bodywork was professionally done by Ricks Auto Body, Springfield MA.

The interior is original, black and in good to very good condition. There is a small hole in the headliner over the rear right back seat from a mouse. This spring while washing the interior, the passenger bucket seat button to relaase the seat back to let the passenger in the back got stuck. Probably will need some penetrating oil to loosen it up.

The instrument cluster has the stock tachometer and gauges. The original owner disconnected the gauges and installed an under dash SUN water, oil pressure, amp cluster. The original owner also installed a manual choke lever under the dash near the ashtray. The car is missing the windshield washer fluid reservoir. It did not have one when I purchased the car, and I never put one in, as I truly only drove it on nice days.

The overall body and paint are in very good to excellent condition. There are a few minor road rock nicks in the paint, and a few small scrapes on the right front (headlight) quarter panel and the left rear quarter panel from parking lot bozos who had to park near me…no matter how far away I parked from people.

In 1990 I had all new Moog springs and suspension components installed.

In 2000 I replaced the starter

In 2012 I had a new stainless steel exhaust system custom bent and installed, replaced the rear brake lines (Teflon brake lines), rebuilt the Carb with a Carter OEM rebuild kit.

In 2013 I replaced the power steering pump, and also replaced the alternator and power steering belts.

Not looking for tire kickers. You know that the car is worth. Serious only who appreciate a true American muscle car and will enjoy driving her for years to come.

Detroit City Council vetoes Autorama stunt, objects to Confederate flag

Wed, Feb 20 2019

Detroit's Autorama hot rod show will stage its 67th annual event next month, and wants to kick off with Burt Reynolds tribute. The plan is to re-create the Mulberry Bridge jump from " Smokey and the Bandit" using a movie-correct 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. But the Detroit City Council voted 7-1 to prohibit the jump. Why? Because the Trans Am's front license plate holder displays the former Georgia state flag, a portion of which is the Confederate national flag, and the city council doesn't like that. In the movie, Bo "Bandit" Darville was a Georgia driving legend, and the flag on the car was Georgia's flag at the time. Councilman Scott Benson laid out the council's position when he said that the car "still proudly flies a Confederate flag, which is a symbol of oppression, slavery, as well as home-bred American terrorism. So this body said we are not going to support that type of symbolism nor the audacity to support that type of activity in the city of Detroit." It seems part of the council's ire comes from the same event two years ago. A stunt group called the Northeast Ohio Dukes re-created a "Dukes of Hazzard" jump in 2017 using a series-correct 1969 Dodge Charger, complete with a Confederate flag on the roof. Benson said the stunt group "expressly said they would not display that [Confederate flag] symbol during the jump." Not only was it displayed, but when driver Raymond Kohn gave interviews after the jump, his driving suit featured the Stainless Banner on the collar. Seems the council has been grinding its axe in silence for two years. Now Benson accuses Autorama of "a history of supporting images and symbols of racism, oppression, and white supremacy." Autorama is certain to take place March 1-3 at Cobo Center. This year's show will have around 800 cars on display, along with a special exhibit of 17 low riders and a Batmobile built by Flint native Carl Casper. Even if the Bandit car doesn't make the jump, the Trans Am and other memorabilia from the film will be there. A spokeswoman for Autorama said, "We are continuing to work to try to resolve this with the city." Junkyard Gem: 1992 Pontiac Sunbird convertible, with extremely rad W25 Appearance Package

Sun, Dec 22 2019

Radwood has sparked a revival in the appreciation of goofy 1980s and 1980s automotive fashions, from neon-colored tape stripes to excessive TURBO badging to ads featuring horrifying Nagel-style women with radio faceplates instead of eyes. I see a lot of discarded cars that would have been ideal to bring to Radwood, and today's Junkyard Gem is even radder than, say, a purple Mercury Tracer Trio or a teal Chevy Beretta GT or even the elusive Dodge Daytona IROC R/T (yes, there were IROC Daytonas): a genuine Pontiac Sunbird SE convertible with the W25 Appearance Package and Bright White Star wheels. The W25 package got you a white Sunbird with kicky script badging, white wheels, and — if you opted for the optional 3.1-liter V6 — these candy-cane-influenced red-and-white displacement badges on the fenders. Now this is rad! The white interior got dirty fast, especially if the owner left the convertible top down, and these wheels were tough to keep clean for more than a few hours. This one appears to have spent many years sitting abandoned with the top down, judging by the completely trashed interior. The base engine for 1992 was the good old Cavalier four-banger, complete with 111 horsepower. This 3.1-liter engine made a respectable-for-1992 140 horses, for plenty of torque-steery, tire-squealy fun. As a J-Body car, the Sunbird was a sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier in 1992 (the J-based Cadillac Cimarron, Oldsmobile Firenza, and Buick Skyhawk departed before the end of the 1980s). Starting in 1994, the Pontiac Sunfire replaced the Sunbird, continuing in production all the way through the demise of the J platform in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. 'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers

Tue, May 30 2017

A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list.
