1966 Pontiac Gto Frame Off Complete Full #s Matching Real Red On Red 4spd A/c on 2040-cars
Yorktown Heights, New York, United States
Up for sale is a real red on red 4 spd #s matching born with drivetrain. We started the restoration by taking apart the entire car and bagging and tagging all clips, screws, moldings etc. I had the body, frame and suspension media blasted by American Dry Stripping in CT. Once it came back we epoxy primed everything. The frame and the suspension then received 2 coats of urethane at 60% gloss for that factory fresh look. The bodywork was then started on the passenger side of the vehicle. The body showed very little rust and not one body panel had to be replaced. There was no bodywork done on the driver side, hood, roof or trunk. The motor, transmission and rear end all were rebuilt to factory specs. With only 58,000 miles on the drivetrain the rebuild posed no problems. We reassembled the car as you see to show that all the parts are here and to make it easier for shipping. The last picture of the black car is this car before the restoration. The car was a fully functional beautiful driver car.I have the original protecto plate, original owners manual, a tag from under the rear seat a few pieces of documentation from 1970s, 2003, and 2006 showing ownership and mileage. Also under the rear seat which I think is really cool was a a road map from the state of Alabama dated 1966. This car was sold to Sam Peak and he took delivery on December 9 1965 in Alabama. I could imagine Mr Peak with a brand new 1966 GTO, a full tank of gas and a road map of the state of Alabama. What a time it must have been. The p-o-p shows service records up to 20,202 miles. The next service info was 12/6/1972 with only 50,635. The last piece of documentation with Sam Peaks name on it was dated 1/11/1979. The next known owner was Larry Skinne and he lived in Alabama as well. He sold the car to Carl Collins on 4/13/2003 in Alabaster Alabama for the price of $8,000.00. Mr Collins owned the vehicle till 3/25/2006 at which time he sold it to John Walker of Hickory North Carolina with a mere 57,664 miles on the odometer. ( car was in Alabama for 40 years ) I purchased the car in 2007 and drove it for a few months. The car drove great and since the drivetrain was so original, I knew the car deserved a frame off restoration. We started the restoration in late 2007 and only got as far as the pictures show. All the parts that came off the vehicle have been documented with pictures. BODY BUILD DATE - 11c November 3rd week. MOTOR - 9778789 k165 November 16 1965. Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
Burt Reynolds' personal 1977 Trans-Am from Smokey And The Bandit for sale
Fri, Dec 5 2014Smokey and the Bandit is one of those quintessential 1970s car movies with insane premises but tons of fun. After all, the basic plot of the film is about distracting the police to transport cases of Coors beer cross country. While Burt Reynolds receives top billing, the real star is definitely his black Pontiac Trans-Am. Now, there's a chance to posses one of these muscle machines actually owned by Reynolds, and it's already proving quite popular. The car is a '77 Trans-Am with the famous, gold screaming chicken proudly on the hood. However, while this is a piece of Reynolds memorabilia, it's not really part of cinematic history. According to the listing, this example was used as a promotional vehicle and then given to Reynolds with a title showing him as a previous owner for proof. Still, there's 400-cubic-inch (6.55-liter) V8 under the hood with a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission. A plaque inside the driver's door proclaims the car as a "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds," and there's a Bandit logo on the door. This is just one lot of Julien Auction's sale of Reynolds memorabilia on December 11 and 12 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Bidding is already running online, and the Trans-Am is up to $130,000, as of this writing. For the true Reynolds fanatic, the auction also lists the motorized stagecoach from his wedding to Loni Anderson. It rides built on an International Harvester Scout frame with an interior reportedly from Dolly Parton.
2.1 million vehicles recalled again over faulty airbags
Sat, Jan 31 2015Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda and Toyota will recall 2.1 million vehicles to fix faulty airbag modules "after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles." These vehicles had all previously been recalled, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the airbags could still potentially malfunction. This recall will cover Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon models made in the early 2000s. NHTSA has reportedly received about 40 reports of airbag deployment in such vehicles, even though the vehicle had not been involved in a crash. Roughly one million of these same vehicles, all from Honda and Toyota, are also subject to recalls due to faulty Takata airbag modules, though this particular recall is for "an electronic component manufactured by TRW" that is separate from the actual airbags from Takata. According to NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind: "This is unfortunately a complicated issue for consumers, who may have to return to their dealer more than once. But this is an urgent safety issue, and all consumers with vehicles covered by the previous recalls should have that remedy installed. Even though it's a temporary solution until the new remedy is available, they and their families will be safer if they take the time to learn if their vehicle is covered and follow their manufacturers' instructions. A hassle is much better than a family tragedy." If you're the owner of an affected car, expect to hear more from the official automaker and government channels in short order. In the meantime, we'd suggest getting your car checked and fixed at your local dealer. The official statement and recall information can be found below. Previously Recalled Vehicle Remedies Not Working as Designed; NHTSA Announces Follow up Recall of 2.12 Million Cars and SUVs Saturday, January 31, 2015 Contact: Gordon Trowbridge, 202-366-9550, Public.Affairs@dot.gov WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today the recall of more than 2.12 million Acura, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles for a defect that may cause airbags to deploy inadvertently. The recalls will provide vehicle owners with a new remedy after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles.
