1966 GTO PHS documented numbers matching tri-power convertible. Found in a garage where it
had been stored since 1989 & not driven since. Engine does not run has rod bearing knock but it does turn by hand.
Sold new at a local Regseter Pontiac Upper Darby, Pennsylvania dealership. 1st owner was a female, owned car till
the mid 1970s & took very good care of the car. Second owner drove the cars for years before the engine developed
a bearing knock. The engine was then removed to check damage. The car was put into storage in 1989 as future
project, life happen, retired & moved south.
Since my recent purchase I put engine back into car to show it is nearly complete. The engine needs rebuilt &
does not run. The 389-360 hp tri-power engine is the original born with & matching numbers, block stamped YR,
cast number 9778789 with B 7 6 date, or February 7th 1966, cylinder heads cast # 093 with matching date of B 1 6.
Data plate shows this GTO was manufactured on the 03 D or March 4th week of 1966. Very nice original GM chrome air
cleaners & valve covers. Even the original spring clamp battery cables survived. Original unrestored tri-power
shows difficult to find vacuum linkage with survivor gold coloring on the carburetors.
The title shows 136,000 but speedometer shows 103,000. Silver Platinum paint with black interior & top. One
repaint in the early 1980s. Overall a very solid car. This car has survivor qualities such as all original Delco
spiral shocks are intact, all its original T-3 headlamp bulbs. All original interior accept carpet. Seats, door
panels & dash pad show very nice original with no rips or tears. Trunk shows solid pan with original splatter
paint. Solid floors. Most of the chrome & trim is nice & bumpers look nearly new . Convertible top is still
serviceable.
PHS shows car equipped as follows;
-389-360hp Tri-power
-automatic transmission
-positraction rear with 3:55 gears
-rally I wheels with white wall tires
-pushbutton radio with power antenna
-door edge guards
-remote control mirror
-luggage compartment lamp
-glove box lamp
-ashtray lamp
-under hood lamp
-custom seat belts
-rally gauges & tachometer
-custom sport wood steering wheel
-bucket seats with console
-exhaust splitters
-power steering
- power brakes
-tinted soft ray glass
-floor mats ( front & rear)
Overall a very nice restorable GTO tri-power convertible. The condition is as we used to find them decades ago.
Very few project cars still have the original engine let alone the high horse power tri-power. Fix the mechanics
of this car & drive it as you restore it. Bring a trailer as car does not run & brakes do not work. Selling car
in as is where is condition with no warranty expressed or implied.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
Junkyard Gem: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible
Sun, Jan 8 2023GM's Pontiac Division sold its first convertibles during the 1927 model year (just a year after the division's creation), then proceeded to offer memorable drop-tops for most of the following 83 years. The best-selling convertible to bear Pontiac badges during our current century was the retractable-hardtop-equipped G6, available from the G6's introduction in 2006 through the second-to-last model year of 2009 (the Sunfire convertible was available just through 2000, while the Firebird convertible vanished with the demise of the slow-selling Firebird itself after 2002). Here's one of those G6 GT convertibles, found in a Denver-region boneyard after a crash ended its driving career. Mashed right front, popped airbags. This sort of damage might have been worth repairing in 2009, but not today. The 2007 G6 was available as a coupe, sedan, or convertible. All the convertibles had the GT trim level and the 3.5-liter V6 and its 224 horsepower. The MSRP on this car was $28,750 (about $42,325 in 2022 dollars), making it the most expensive G6. The power hardtop roof folded up into the trunk, leaving 1.8 cubic feet of trunk storage space with the top down. This Karmann-designed roof system made the interior much quieter than that of a traditional soft-top convertible. All G6s were built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, where Chevy Bolts are born today. The G6 was built through the 2010 model year, making it one of the very last Pontiac models (the Vibe also made it to 2010, though it was really a Toyota Matrix). In hindsight, 2007 turned out to be an ominous year for GM.
Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.
