1965 Pontiac Le Mans Gto on 2040-cars
New Hudson, Michigan, United States
Up For auction is a BEAUTIFUL 1965 Pontiac Le Mans 2 door hardtop coupe GTO tribute car. I don't know where to start with this one. This car is 100% rust free and has original steel throughout! The body is painted in a very sharp deep metallic blue paired with the original interior! The seats have been taken car of very well and were recently dyed. The door panels are new as well as the head liner. The body on this amazing gto recreation is laser straight and free from defects. All the chrome and bright work looks great (especially around those beautiful stacked head lights). The body lines all match up perfectly, and the gaps are nice and even throughout the car. This vehicle was originally sold in North Carolina, and it remained in the south for the vast majority of its life where is pampered to the extreme. Beautiful new set of tires and wheels to compliment the look of the vehicle. The motor is a VERY healthy Pontiac 455 bored .030 over with a mild cam backed by a freshly built turbo 400 auto and 3.73 gear in the rear. Don't be fooled by its size or the quiet rumble from the brand new dual exhaust, this car is quick! All the glass is in perfect condition, all lights, wipers, signals, horn, and other electronics and mechanical items function as should. There are only about 2000 miles on this car since its body off complete restoration. The beauty doesn't stop with the body or interior, the engine bay and trunk are in as good of shape as a brand new car!!! If that's not enough for you, the quality continues to the under body. Its SPOTLESS, you could flip her around and eat off the under side of this car. This is a great example of what a true restoration looks like. No corners cut. Even has the spare tire and jack in the trunk! This vehicle comes with its original window sticker, bill of sale, protect o plate, original 1965 protection plan book, original registration.... it is a complete package for any automotive enthusiast. Driveability? Its amazing! With power disc brakes up front, fresh drums in the rear, and power steering...This is the perfect ride to take the family on a cruise in, trip to the local show, grocery store on sunday, or town dairy queen...Sure to turn heads every time you pull it out. This car NEEDS NOTHING. Just a good home and great owner to enjoy and continue to pamper. If your in the market for a GTO or Le Mans, this is truly a great car to consider. Keep in mind while bidding, although this may be a GTO tribute, it sure plays the part of a true GTO, has all the looks and styling but wont cost you the $50,000+ that a gto in this condition would command. Im sure I am leaving something out, so be sure to visit this page on a mac or pc and view the 100+ photos displaying every inch of the car. SERIOUS bidders only!!! Junkyard Gem: 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE Coupe
Thu, Jun 22 2023The Grand Am was the best-selling Pontiac model in the United States for every year of the 1990s, and it outsold most of its N-Body platform-mates (including the Chevrolet Corsica/Beretta) during nearly all of that decade. A sporty-looking compact with two or four doors, the Grand Am offered true 1990s radness—and, in some cases, respectable performance — at a good price. Today's Junkyard Gem is a nicely preserved example of the facelifted 1996 Grand Am, found in a Denver-area car graveyard. This is an SE Coupe with base engine and transmission, the most affordable Grand Am available in 1996. List price was $13,499, or about $26,523 in 2023 dollars. The factory-issued Monroney sheet for this car was still inside, so we can see that the original buyer got the car at Bob Ruwart Motors in Wheatland, Wyoming (about 175 miles up I-25 from this Pontiac's final parking spot), and paid a total of $16,054 ($31,543 in today's money) after the cost of options and the destination charge. The '96 Grand AM SE buyer had to pay extra for cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, rear glass defogger and other features we now take for granted on new cars. The base engine was the 2.4-liter Twin Cam four cylinder, a member of the screaming Oldsmobile Quad 4 family. This one was rated at 150 horsepower and 155 pound-feet. A 3.1-liter V6 with 155 horses and 185 pound-feet was an option. If you got the V6 in your '96 Grand Am, however, you couldn't get a manual transmission. This car has a proper five-speed manual, which made for fun driving with the high-revving Twin Cam engine in a machine weighing just 2,802 pounds (which is quite a bit less than what the current Honda Civic weighs). It traveled just over 160,000 miles during its 27 years on the road. The body and interior were still in fairly good condition when the car arrived here, so we can assume that some expensive mechanical problem doomed this car. Perhaps the original clutch wore out and the owner didn't consider it worth replacing. After all, a mid-1990s Detroit two-door with a transmission most people can't drive isn't worth much these days. Though nobody knew it when this car was new, the Grand Am would be gone in nine years and Pontiac itself would get the axe five years after that. It makes the ordinary extraordinary. Husbands and wives would argue for 12 hours over who got to drive the Grand Am, if we are to believe this ad. Proud sponsor of the 1996 Olympic team.
Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition
Tue, Aug 29 2017The W Platform proved to be extremely long-lived and versatile for General Motors, remaining in production from 1988 all the way through 2016. You had your Impalas and your Regals and your Cutlass Supremes, and of course the 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was a W-body. For the 2000 model year, Pontiac made the racy-looking Daytona 500 Edition Grand Prix, an example of which I just found in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. 2,000 of these cars were made, presumably because it was the year 2000, and each one sports plenty of cool-looking Daytona 500 graphics. Perhaps some Regal owner will buy these seats and swap them. This is the second junked Daytona 500 Grand Prix I have seen recently, after this one in Colorado. The Daytona 500 was about the same as the GTP version, with Eaton-supercharged 3800 engine making a respectable 240 horsepower. Disappointingly, this car has an automatic transmission. It never saw 150,000 miles, unlike most 21st-century W-bodies I see in wrecking yards. Featured Gallery Junked 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition View 21 Photos Auto News Pontiac Sedan
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
