Up for sale is a customized 1965 Pontiac GTO. NOT A CLONE. I have the PHS documentation which I will include in pics. The car was an original tri-power 389, 4 speed GTO.
It currently does not have the original motor and there are obviously some mods. But, would not take much to take it back to original condition or continue to keep it as a modified street rod.
I have owned the car for approx. 28 years. Always garaged whereas the past few years I have started up and rarely driven the vehicle every so often. I have purchased a new home and no longer have the time or money to put into the vehicle thus the reason I am selling.
The body is straight with no rust except for some minor dings and dents.
The hood has some scratches towards the front and center and there are some cracks around the hood scoop where the scoop was bondo'd onto the hood. The front springs were cut/ modified to lower the front end. The sides contain some minor scratches with the worst scratch being on the drivers side rear panel above the rear wheel whereas there is a small scratch and a small dent. The trunk lid needs a lock. The rear Pontiac cover contains some small dings and the rear bumper has a small area on the lower left that was welded together.
The engine is a 400 bored .030 over with a racing cam and a Holley double pump. The engine was built approx. 25 years ago and I do not have an accurate mileage on it due to there not being a speedo gear for the speedometer in the transmission. All electrical works although the wiring is original and should be replaced. It has a heavy duty clutch along with a stainless steel flywheel and a Muncie M22 4 speed. It has a racing drive line, ladder bars and 373 gears currently installed. (I also have 488 gears that will be included). There is no rust underneath or in floor and frame is straight.
The interior is black and only in fair shape.
The dash pad has some cracks and the door panels are worn. The seats both front and back need to be reupholstered. The carpet is in fair condition and it needs a new headliner.
The vehicle starts up and runs but could use a good tune up from sitting in the garage to make it a daily driver.
My loss is your gain. The value of this car is the body being a straight original GTO and would not take much for someone to get this classic back on the road looking beautiful like she needs to be.
The vehicle is for sale locally in Flagstaff, AZ and I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car does sale locally prior to end of auction.
The vehicle is available for viewing at sellers location and I can provide more pics or information if necessary.
Payment is due within 7 days at end of auction. Bank transfer preferred. Vehicle will not be released until payment in full is verified by sellers bank.
Buyer will pay for and arrange for pick up and/ or shipping. Seller can assist in pickup/ loading if necessary.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Firebird

Sat, May 9 2020

From 1967 through 2002, the Pontiac Division offered the Firebird, close sibling to the Chevrolet Camaro. By the third generation, which debuted for the 1982 model year, it became more difficult to tell the two F-body cars apart at a glance and the Pontiac-exclusive engines of the earlier years disappeared, but the Firebird still retained its own personality and its own position in the GM marketing hierarchy. I still find the occasional 1982-1992 Camaro as I search car graveyards for interesting stuff, but the corresponding Firebirds have become scarce in recent years. Here's a base-engine-equipped '87, its Bright Red paint (yes, that was the official name for the color) faded by the Colorado sun as it awaits the crusher. Firebird shoppers had their choice of three engines in 1987: A 5.7-liter Chevy V8 (210 hp), a 5.0-liter Chevy V8 (205 hp) and the same 2.8-liter 60° V6 that went into the Fiero and countless front-drive GM sedans (135 hp). This car has the base engine. The third-gen F-body didn't weigh much (3,105 pounds for the '87 with six-banger, about what a 2020 Corolla weighs), so 135 horses was tolerable. Plenty of these cars got T-5 5-speed manual transmissions, but this one got the two-pedal setup. Camaro wheels, of course. Our Friend the Carburetor didn't disappear from new cars until the early 1990s in the United States, though electronic fuel injection had become very commonplace by 1987. Still, GM considered this car's EFI worth a door-handle brag. It's not worth fixing up a mashed six-cylinder third-gen Firebird, so we can see the route this car took to its final parking space. Rent the 1967 Pontiac GTO from the XxX films now on Turo

Tue, Jan 10 2017

The process of renting a car usually ranges from mildly annoying to "I'm calling corporate to get you fired." Plainly, it sucks, but sometimes you're left with no alternative. Turo, a peer-to-peer carsharing network, has created what's essentially the AirBnB for cars. Like AirBnB, the quality and variety of the rides varies based on location. If you're in Tucson, Ariz., in the next week, go check out this 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible before the release of XxX: The Return of Xander Cage. Promotions and marketing aside, this is still the opportunity to drive one of the original muscle cars. It's not clear if this is an original GTO or a Pontiac Tempest that was converted, but does it really matter? Old cars never drive as well as you hope, so, as long as it looks and sounds awesome, who cares? The owner listed on Turo is Xander C., Vin Diesel's character from the XxX franchise. This is the car that was used in the original 2002 film, and from the photos it appears to be in better shape than many other movie cars. The exterior is mostly stock, with some slight modifications to the lighting, wheels, exhaust, and trim, with the addition of a funky looking hood scoop that the listing claims shoots flames. It's not clear if it functions as an actual intake because there aren't any notes about what rests under the hood. The listing does ask for premium fuel, so more than likely it's some variation of a high-compression V8. Inside, the dashboard looks like someone raided the AutoZone accessory aisle. There are gauges, dials, toggle switches, and readouts galore. The listing also claims the Goat is packing a rocket launcher and a weapons stash under the seat. $999 per day isn't cheap, but it's less than you'd pay for a day with one of the rent-an-exotic shops you see in Los Angeles or New York. If you're not in Tucson or the price is a little too steep, Turo has what it's dubbed the Adrenaline Collection. The name may be hyperbole, but the lineup of cars is actually really solid. A quick glance reveals a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider, and a 1969 Jaguar E-Type. The car list keeps expanding, so if this proves popular, look for more cool stuff in the future.
