I have owned this GTO for almost 8 Years and it's time to go to a younger Enthusiast , I will start with the Negatives first, it could use a new paint job, it does look good from 30 feet and I do get allot of thumbs up as I go down the road but the truth is the existing paint is 25 years old and has some chips and cracks as well as little cancer on the left rear lower fender and I do have a replacement part for that. The upholstery is in good condition other than some tlc is needed on a corner on the bottom passenger seat, the speedometer just quit working although the odometer works well, I drive it using the 2 tachs and they work well. The engine is in perfect shape except the starter is just starting to make a little noise, now the good points, the car looks awesome when you dust it a bit and take it out for a Sunday Cruise, the tires are 2000 miles old, the brakes are new with Disc brakes up front and it stops very well if you need to. The Richmond 6 speed has only a few thousand miles on it and the car was not modified to install it just bolted it in, the original 4 speed in excellent shape comes with it, the car gets 20 MPG cruising 75 MPH at 2400 rpm, the AC by Vintage was installed 5 years ago and works awesome, the car runs strong ans sounds great with the new Flowmasters, the posi Differential was totally rebuilt by the previous owner using Moser axles, bearings and brakes, the engine is a 1972model 400 ci bored .030 with forged pistons TRW pistons, moly rings, Hyd Comp Cam with 450 lift, new freeze plugs, main and rod brgs, cam brgs, tru double roller timing chain, Harlin Sharp Alum. 1.5 roller rockers, hardened push rods, high perf oil pump. The Cylinder heads are 6X , valves are 2.11 and 1.77, The distributor has been upgraded to pertronix hei, alternator and water pump are new, aluminum radiator was installed new last year with a 15 inch elec. fan if needed on hot days, All front end ball joints  and tie rods were replaced in 2005, all exhaust is 2.5 diameter with a set of Hooker Headers attached to the 6X heads.  Please call or e-mail with any questions and be advised the car is listed locally and I can end the auction early. 760-382-0906                          thanks for looking

Michigan floods from breached dams consume Pontiac Fiero collection

Thu, May 21 2020

“WeÂ’ve never had an event like this,” Michigan's city manager Brad Kaye said in a Detroit News story. "What we're looking at is an event that is the equivalent of a 500-year flood." Kaye is referencing the catastrophic flood that occurred in central Michigan this week after heavy rainfall was compounded by two breached dams on the Tittabawassee River. Reports say the flooding forced evacuation of up to 10,000 residents, swallowed entire towns, and destroyed thousands of properties. No casualties have been reported, according to the Detroit Free Press, but car enthusiasts will be sad to learn a Pontiac Fiero shop and collection called Forever Fieros was decimated by the natural disaster. The Tittabawassee River is located about two hours, or roughly 140 miles, north of Detroit. It starts 20-30 miles further north and flows southeast as a tributary to the Saginaw Bay Watershed. Along the way, the Tittabawassee is held up by several dams, including the Edenville dam that failed and the Sanford dam that was breached during torrential downpours. According to NPR, the federal government took away the Edenville dam's license in 2018 and suggested it could not last through a major flood. Unfortunately, that prediction was proven accurate.  Forever Fieros is located in Sanford, Michigan, which is just below Sanford Lake, which is created by the Sanford dam. So when the Edenville dam north of Sanford broke, water from Wixom Lake flooded Sanford Lake, and a berm next to the Sanford dam was overwhelmed, according to MLive. Technically the dam did not fail, but the end result was the same: an entire town underwater. The Tittabawassee reportedly crested at 35 feet, or 10 feet above flood level and 1.1 feet higher than the previous record set in 1986. According to The Drive, the man in charge of Forever Fieros, Tim Evans, had time to attempt to save his vehicles from floodwater. He reportedly moved about 12 cars to a street that doesn't typically flood, but the water level was simply too high for that to matter. A floating pole barn also reportedly struck and damaged the  Forever Fieros building.  Worsening the situation is the fact that Evans was planning to hold an auction to sell many of the Fieros. As seen on Industrial Bid, he planned to sell 12 Fieros, Fiero GTs and a Fiero Formula, ranging from 1984 through 1988. The lots included a 1984 pace car, a Lamborghini Countach kit car, and a Fiero Cosworth Pontiac Super Duty 16-valve DOHC engine.

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Pontiac Solstice

Wed, Sep 4 2019

The debut of the Pontiac Solstice, back in 2005 for the 2006 model year, stirred up much excitement in the automotive world. Sales were brisk at first, and then they weren't so great… and then Pontiac itself went under The General's cost-cutting axe. One thing I have learned during my junkyard travels is that even sought-after sports cars eventually reach a point at which they start showing up in the big self-service junkyards. For example, the BMW Z3 began appearing in such yards about five years ago, along with the Audi TT. While the Honda S2000 still appears to be exempt from this process, today's Junkyard Gem shows that the time has now come for the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. The first Z3s and TTs I saw in the U-Wrench-type yards were crash victims, not worth fixing, and that's the case with this Solstice. In a few more years, I'll start seeing the occasional Solstice/Sky discarded due to general worn-outness. Someone grabbed all the undented front body parts and the transmission (these items, presumably, being valuable), but no junkyard shoppers have felt like pulling the non-turbo 2.0-liter Ecotec. The interior seems dirty, probably from exposure to the elements while sitting outdoors in this Colorado Springs wrecking yard, but not in bad shape otherwise. Perhaps the car's owner celebrated a return from Iraq with the purchase of a sporty new Pontiac, 13 years ago. These cars have an enthusiastic following, so I wasn't expecting to see a junked one so soon after production ceased. I felt the same way about the Chrysler Crossfire, however, and I found two of those last year. What's next, a 2002-2005 Thunderbird? This content is hosted by a third party. Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
