Im considering selling my recently acquired G8 GT as I feel it should get more use than what it has received from me. It is basically my weekend cruiser and even then I barely drive it. I purchased the car back in July 2013 Orangeburg Nissan in South Carolina. The car sat on Fort Campbell from July 2013 until October 2013 when I finally titled it and drove it to Phoenix from Fort Campbell. Since then the car mainly sits unless its nice out or Im taking it to have some work done to it. Since I took possession of the vehicle it has had a Custom Flowmaster Exhaust installed, Volant Cold Air Intake, Crossed Drilled & Slotted Rotors w/Ceramic Brake Pads, MGP Brake Caliper Covers, 20% Window Tint, 6k HIDs (low beams), 6k LED Foglights, Foglights modified to be Day Time Running Lights, and had a Costar Bluetooth Module installed as well. The G8 GT has a 6.0L L76 (LS2/LS3 hybrid) motor mated to a six-speed 6L80 Hydra-Matic, puts out over 360hp and is a 13sec car stock which is pretty impressive for how much it ways. In my eyes the G8 GT is the ultimate sleeper as no one expects a sedan to move like this one is capable of moving. If you delete the Displacement on Demand (DOD/AFM) and upgrade the cam you would easily have over 400hp. This was going to be my next modification after the GM 5yr/100,000 warranty is over in 4/2014. If you know anything about these cars you know they were plagued with lifter failures due to a poor Eaton lifter design my G8 was no exception and has had the lifters, cam, and other accessories replaced under warranty right after halloween as I developed the lifter tick. The work was all done by Courtesy Chevrolet and I have all paperwork documenting it. Before that the car received a coolant flush, power steering flush, as well as a transmission flush. When I purchased the car I received a lifetime engine warranty just have to check to see if its transferable like the GM powertrain warranty is. I have a set of 20' Camaro SS wheels that I was going to add to the G8 as well that will be included in the sale if I get my asking price otherwise I will sell those separate. Below is a list of options my G8 has mine is fully loaded just without a sunroof.
Options: Black Onyx Leather Interior, Dual Front Heated Seats, Dual Climate Control, Six Disc CD Player w/MP3 Playback Capability, Sport Metallic Pedals, Leather Wrapped Sport Steering Wheel, Leather Wrapped Shifter, Dual Power Driver & Passenger Adjustable Seats, 19' Enkei Sport Wheels, Goodyear Eagle RSAs 245/45R19 All-Season Tires, Front & Rear Armrest w/Cupholders, White LED Front & Rear Footwell Lighting, Sport & Premium Package Minus Sunroof. The car is currently financed so I can not and will not accept payment plans. You will need to obtain your own financing or pay cash and then I can turn over the title and lien release. Im willing to work with anyone that is interested but again I don't have to sell and can hold on to the car as it is surely a collectors piece, was only made for two years before Pontiac received the axe. The car is also listed locally and can sell at any moment. So if your interested send me an message if you would like additional pictures, have questions, etc. |

This or That: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 vs. 1984 Pontiac Fiero
Tue, Feb 10 2015Welcome to another round of This or That, where two Autoblog editors pick a topic, pick a side and pull no punches. Last round pitted yours truly against Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, and my chosen VW Vanagon Syncro narrowly defeated Brandon's 1987 Land Rover. In fact, it was, by far, the closest round we've seen, with 1,907 voters seeing things my way (for 50.8 percent of the vote) versus 1,848 votes for Brandon's Rover (49.2 percent). Sweet, sweet victory! For this latest round of This or That, I've roped Editor Greg Migliore into what I think is a rather fun debate. We've each chosen our favorite terrible cars, setting a price limit of $10,000 to make sure neither of us went too crazy with our automotive atrocities. I think we've both chosen terribly... and I mean that in the best way possible. 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Jeremy Korzeniewski: Why It's Terrible: Taken in isolation, the Chrysler Crossfire isn't necessarily a terrible car. In fact, it drives pretty darn well, and there's a lot of solid engineering under its slinky shape. Problem is, that engineering was already rather long in the tooth well before Chrysler ever got its hands on it, having come from Mercedes-Benz, which used the basic chassis and drivetrain in a previous version of its SLK coupe and roadster. Granted, the SLK was an okay car, too, but even when new, it hardly set the world on fire with sporty driving dynamics. Chrysler took these decent-but-no-more bits and pieces from the Mercedes parts bin – remember, this car was conceived in the disastrous Merger Of Equals days – and covered them with a rather attractive hard-candy shell. Unfortunately, the super sporty shape wrote checks in the minds of buyers that its well-worn mechanicals were simply unable to cash, though an injection of power courtesy of a supercharged V6 engine in the SRT6 model, as seen here, certainly helped ease some of those woes. In the end, Chrysler was left with a so-called halo car that looked the part but never quite performed the part. It was almost universally panned by critics as an overpriced parts-bin special, which, I must add, was damningly accurate. As a result, sales were very slow, and within the first few months, dealers were clearancing the car at cut-rate prices, just to keep them from taking up too much of the showroom floor. Why It's Not That Terrible, After All: I can speak from personal experience when discussing the Chrysler Crossfire. You see, I owned one. Well, sort of...
GM's got 107 problems and NHTSA's No. 1
Thu, Mar 6 2014General Motors' problems with its recall of roughly 1.6-million vehicles continue to mount. Now that it has emerged that GM knew about the problem since at least 2004 but waited to recall vehicles until February 2014, regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have begun a much deeper investigation. NHTSA has sent a 27-page survey to GM that includes 107 questions about the timeline of what led up to the recall, and it has until April 3 to reply. This isn't a simple, multiple-choice test. Automotive News believes that hundreds of pages could be required to answer some of the queries. NHTSA says that it is still investigating GM's response to the recall. "We are a data-driven organization, and we will take whatever action is appropriate based on where our findings lead us," said NHTSA in a statement on its website. If found liable, the automaker could face a fine as high as $35 million and even possible criminal charges, according to Bloomberg. NHTSA's questions include a detailed explanation of GM's examination process; how it will improve the process; why a planned redesign of the cars' key in 2005 wasn't implemented; and specific data on each complaint it received. According to Bloomberg, NHTSA also has records that show the company had a meeting with regulators to discuss the airbag failure in a Chevrolet Cobalt in 2007. New GM CEO Mary Barra has also hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation about what happened. It will include questioning company employees who were involved with the process from the start. The recall stems from faulty ignition switches that shut off the car while driving, and if it occurs the airbags deactivate. Thirteen deaths and 23 crashes have been caused by the problem, according to Bloomberg. If you would like to peruse NHTSA's entire questionnaire for GM, it can be viewed here. Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek
Tue, Jul 11 2017Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone.
