PHS Documented included to buyer showing rare WS7 option! The Trans AM has a Clear “California Title” in my name and Registration is current! Has Original Blue and Yellow color License Plate!! There is No Rust located on the floor boards, wheel wells or trunk floor areas! Car is Rust Free!!! This is a nice and rare factory equipped “WS7” performance handling package. Only a certain number of Trans Am were produced with this suspension which is the same as the WS6 suspension except it does not have the rear disc brake brakes and was factory built with rear drum brakes. It does have the front disc brakes and performance like the WS6 suspension! I do have the PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) Documents listing this rare WS7 Performance Suspension and will be included to the buyer. The Trans Am has the original 403 CID Engine. The VIN Number stamped on the engine matches the VIN number on the dash!!!! (see photos of VIN numbers stamped on engine block). The engine runs nice and smooth with good power!! The engine has not been altered and is very original! I don’t know if it has the original miles stated on the odometer which reads 38,614. The Trans AM has all its smog required emissions and will easily pass the California Smog Test!!! (passed the smog test on March 2014 with no issues! I can supply a copy of the smog certificate if needed!!). The transmission is a Turbo Hydromatic 350 and possibly is the original transmission but I could not locate the VIN Number, so I will not say it’s matching numbers. The transmission shifts smoothly and has no problems! The Car was built in Van Nuys, California and has no rust! The front suspension has been rebuilt with new upper and lower control arm ball joints and bushings. Front sway bar link bushings were also replaced. Has new Rear leaf springs rubber pads installed!! New Front brake calipers and brakes! Rear brakes have been also replaced and are in good condition. New gas tank!! Rubber fuel lines have also been replaced! New Duralast Battery! New weather stripping installed! (doors close a bit hard due to new weather stripping and door hinges will also need to be slightly adjusted/replaced). The car has a very nice and Shiny “Star Light” Black Paint job with nice SE (special edition) Decals!!!!! The Trans AM was restored and painted approx. 3 years ago. The body is straight and free from dents and rust. There are no major dings on the Trans Am other than the normal road debris scratches. There is No Rust located on the floor boards, wheel wells or trunk floor areas! Car is Rust Free!!! Original 15X8 Inch wheels which have been polished!! All four wheels look like new!! All four Center Wheel Caps are in good condition!! Front tires are Goodyear Radial 245-60-15 and the rear tires are BFGoodrich 275-60-15. Car was stored for a while and tires might need to be replaced. Original Steering Wheel with functional horn!! Original front and rear seat frames. Seats have been reupholstered and are in like new condition! New black Headliner with no tears! T-Tops are in very good condition with no cracks! Clean door panels!! Has New Black carpet!! Nice clean Center Console and Shifter!! Original Dash Board in good condition but does have one crack going doing the top center of it (see picture). Original chrome trimming/moldings! Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE
Sat, Dec 2 2017Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. This junkyard '91 Grand Am is as hooptie as it gets
Wed, Jun 29 2016I spend a lot of time in junkyards. A lot of time. With all this experience, I have learned to recognize a perfect hooptie when I see one, a car whose final owner got every last bit of use out of it when its value was hovering right about at scrap value. This 1991 Pontiac Grand Am that I spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard a few days ago, from the final model year for the third-generation Grand Am, checks all the hooptie boxes just right. First of all, it's a low-option coupe with the wretched and unloved GM Iron Duke engine, a rattly, gnashy, thrashy 2.5-liter four-cylinder kludged together using off-the-shelf parts from the Pontiac 301-cubic-inch V8 during the darkest years of the Malaise Era and used in cars whose buyers just didn't care. Most of the paint has been burned off by 25 years of harsh California sun, but the car spent sufficient time in a damp, shady spot for lichens to build up here and there. There are skeletons-with-sombreros stencils sprayed here and there, plus a big moonshine-guzzling skeleton mural painted on the hood. Goodbye, property values! Still, someone felt some affection for this car, giving it the name "Good Ol' Snakey" and painting that name on the decklid. We can assume that the Iron Duke was a bit loose by this time, probably leaving a serpentine trail of blue smoke behind the car at all times. So, the combination of cheapness, ugliness, menace, and who-gives-a-damn functionality make this Grand Am an excellent example of a pure hooptie. Within a couple of months, it will be crushed, shredded, shipped out of the Port of Oakland, and reborn in China as refrigerators and Geely Emgrands. Somewhere in Northern California, though, a few of Ol' Smokey's friends will remember this car fondly.
Autoblog Classifieds finds: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT
Tue, May 15 2018Autoblog's free Readers' Used Car Classifieds section is a great place to list your car for sale, and because these are readers, they often list really interesting cars. Occasionally we find interesting listings, and tell you what's special about them. This 1987 Pontiac Fiero was listed for sale at the time of this writing, but if the listing expires by the time you read this, feel free to browse for other great finds. Thirty years after General Motors stopped building it, the Pontiac Fiero might have finally emerged from the darkness. First, it was a humble commuter car that just happened to be a mid-engined coupe, then it was a re-skinnable basis for Fierorraris or other slightly strange kit cars, and then it made some Worst Cars of All Time lists due to its econobox ingredients, including its Chevy Citation suspension parts. But after a few decades, even the most mediocre car will become interesting as most of the examples built have been run into the ground; why not then the Fiero? The story of the Fiero is paralleled by a number of GM products, as it improved constantly the longer it was built, and by the time of the last model years it was quite decent indeed. And then the plug was pulled. The Fiero might not be a Toyota MR2 or even a Fiat X1/9, but it was made in two body styles, the notchback and the fastback, the latter of which looks especially good now. The Fiero also remains quite affordable, and the plastic body panels do not rust, unlike with the two aforementioned cars. This 1987 car advertised for sale at Autoblog Classifieds does not yet benefit from the 1988 cars' improved suspension, but thanks to its low, low 47,000-mile odometer reading, it looks to be in tip-top shape. The automatic transmission is just the three-speed affair, though, rendering the V6 car here more of a cruiser than a fiery hot canyon carver. Perhaps that has contributed to its good condition, along with the lack of possibly leaky T-tops. Could the Fiero have aged better than your Hall & Oates tapes?
