Up for bid is an original 2000 model Pontiac Firebird with a V6 and 4spd automatic transmission owned by a mature female for the last 9 years. It is mechanically in sound condition for it's age. It has minimal amount of fluid leaks on underside of engine and transmission. Oil was changed every 3 thousand miles and have most receipts for maintenance done to car over the years. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country, it's dependable and reliable. Everything works including ICE COLD Air-conditioning. The cloth interior shows no signs of wear and tear and overall is a 9 out of 10. It had dark window tint applied early in it's life that saved the interior from sun damage, but driver side window tint has lifted in some spots. It is a non-smoker vehicle that smells smoke-free inside. It has a high-end professionally installed Alpine receiver CD-MP3 with remote and Autobahn amplifier in the trunk. It recently passed state inspection and has a current registration. It has some rock chips on front areas of the car. It has some areas of clear coat pealing on the top area between the T-Tops and back glass. It has minor damage to passenger side rear quarter panel from a parking lot hit and run. It sports it's original 16" chrome wheels on all four corners that still look as good as new. The T-Tops are clean with minor scratches on glass, if any. Great car for someone looking for a sports car with attitude and at same time requiring less frequent stops to the gas station. Lastly, drivers young and old alike will appreciate receiving a lower rate from their insurance company on this car compared to a faster gas guzzling V8. Highest bidder wins. Thanks for looking and good luck!

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken
Fri, Feb 8 2019Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
