For sale is my 1995 Pontiac Firehawk #332 6-speed with only 35,200 orig. miles and SLP's 410hp engine package. This is an extremely rare car as it's 1 of 13 chameleon Firehawks produced in 1995. SLP had difficulty matching the paint on the hoods and as a result canceled production, however they honored the orders already received, this is one of those cars. The paint is gorgeous in the sunlight and changes from green to blue to purple. Most people have never seen this color in person and the pictures I took don't do it justice as the sun had set. In addition, this is the only Firehawk I've ever seen that was sent back to SLP to have one of SLP's special high performance engine packages installed. This car received SLP's 410+HP power package which was installed by SLP through a local Pontiac dealer. This is a very collectable and special car that would make a great addition to anyone's collection.

This Firehawk is in extremely good condition and is all original with the exception of the Hurst chrome handle and white shift knob. I have the original handle and leather wrapped Hurst shift knob and will reinstall prior to selling. There is zero rust on the car, all power options work as they should and the a/c is ice cold. The paint is beautiful and has very minor flaws as one would expect on a low mile well cared for car (minor bug marks or nicks on rockers/nose). All glass is in excellent condition and the t-top seals and weather stripping is nice and soft. The interior is like new and shows no wear or fading-including the original Firehawk floormats that are perfect. Mechanically, it runs and drives like a low mile and well cared for car should. No squeaks or rattles, handles like a sports car and with the SLP 410HP engine package, it is a blast to drive with excellent power. I recently replaced the Firehawk center caps with a NOS set, replaced the fuel filter and changed the oil (Mobil 1 oil & filter). I have two sets of keys and remotes as well the birth certificate and paperwork for the SLP 410HP package and install. I purchased this Firehawk a couple of months ago with the intention of keeping forever. However, this car is too nice and rare that I'm worried to go cruising in it with my wife and young children-it just sits in the garage. I've decided to keep my 99' SS convertible as this is better for cruising as I don't have to worry as much. Low reserve!!!

1995 SLP Firehawk standard options:  $5995.00

1995 the Firehawk package was available for the all formula models and required the R6V RPO code. It came as a OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) option which was covered under the standard GM warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles. The Firehawk option had a MSRP of $5,995 and included:

*) Lightweight Composite Hood with Functional Cold Air Induction Package unitizing modified Coverette Air Cleaner

*) 17" x 9" Speedline Alesio Aluminum Alloy Wheels

*) P275/40ZR17 Firestone Firehawk tires

*) Distinctive "Firehawk" graphics

*) Interior Commemorative Plaque Listing Build Number

*) Stainless Steel Exhaust tips

SLP Firehawk additional options:  $1597.00

*) $1,199 Performance Exhaust Package including all stainless steel compoents:

3" intermediate pipe, freer flowing muffler and two 2.5" tail pipes

this option is known as "Two On The Left" or TOTL

*) $299 SLP Hurst short throw shifter with H shift knob

*) $99 Premium front floor mats with embroidered Firehawk Logo

These Firehawk package options increased the horsepower from the stock 275 bhp to 315 bhp with the exhaust package and the stock torque was increased from 325 ft-lbs. to 342 with the exhaust package.

SLP Firehawk 410+ HP options:  $7941.00

*)SLP LT-1 Power Package-CNC head port, 5 angle valve job, 2.00", 1.50" valves, heavy duty valve springs, retainers and locks, SLP cam, GM LT-4 roller rockers, Hypertech reprogram (special SLP custom calibration)

*)SLP power headers

*)SLP sub Frame connectors

Vitruvian Energy crowdfunding to make EEB, a trashy biofuel

Sat, Nov 22 2014

When sewage is treated at a wastewater treatment facility, biosolids are the byproduct. After being separated from the water, biosolids are usually sent to a landfill or incinerated. That doesn't mean that they're without value, however. Vitruvian Energy has created a process to make a usable fuel out of this human waste product, and while the source is pretty gross, it is undeniably abundant, and the results are much cleaner. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon. In a process that Vitruvian Energy claims is energy efficient, biosolids are femented and introduced to a type of bacteria to create PHA plastic. Reacting the PHA with ethanol creates the ethyl-3-ethoxybutyrate (EEB) biofuel. Vitruvian says EEB can be blended up to 20 percent with gasoline or diesel without any engine modifications. This lowers the carbon footprint of the fuel it's blended into, and serves to oxygenate diesel, leading to fewer harmful emissions. EEB can also be made using other organic waste products, such as corn stover, rice straw and distillers grains. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon and isn't subject to the maddening market fluctuations and international politics of fossil fuels. Furthermore, EEB's carbon footprint is 70 percent less than that of fossil fuels. Vitruvian also sees potential for EEB to be used on its own to power vehicles or burned to produce electricity for the grid. So far, Vitruvian Energy has used grants from the California Energy Commission and National Science Foundation to develop EEB, and has tested the fuel in a Pontiac Solstice at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Now, Vitruvian is wants to test EEB on a larger scale in the real world in order to prove EEB's viability to interested parties in the wastewater treatment industry. In an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Vitruvian Energy hopes to raise $200,000 to build a prototype EEB production line and to run a test vehicle for a year on an EEB-diesel blend on the streets of Seattle. Donors can score some interesting perks such as shirts and bumper stickers that say "Get Clean with Poopaline." Learn more about EEB in the video and press release below. Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
