first off I took this car on trade and I'm going to be harsh with my description   I'm going to try to point out every flaw I can find, so please look at the pictures closely ask questions I would much rather discourage you from buying than get it home and be disappointed

my option of the car is its a great car, Has lots of curb appeal, Runs good, sounds mean, and what little I have drove it was a pleasure to drive, had no unusual squeaks or rattle

this slick firebird started life as a 1980 turbo firebird,

has power windows, power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes positrac rear.   It presently has a 400 Pontiac motor, aluminum intake, full length headers, dual exhaust (be aware that all of the emissions controls have been removed) the ac condenser lines have been cut,  has a 350 turbo trans,  interior.... the rear seats have new PUI covers, front seats are aftermarket (hug you pretty good) dash and door panels appear to be original and in super good shape. the car appears to have no rust, I have not inspected behind spoiler or ground effects  the front end was replaced with a 71-73 has shaker hood.... because of the aluminum intake being taller this causes the hood  to be raised slightly on the back near windshield the front spoiler is a mix match of the old and newer firebird if you look close you can tell it doesn't follow the bottom of the front bumper perfectly the paint appears to be a Candy blue color and in spots it wasn't applied perfectly so there are different shades the driver door looks like it has new hinges and the door still needs some adjusting. if you look close at the bottom edge of the door it looks like when you ever replaced the hinges that they had it on some sort of supporting devise and the bottom edge has a very slight bend   you will need to get down on the floor to see.... the driver door glass doesn't roll up correctly I think some adjusting on it and it will be good as new

has 15x8 aluminum wheels the rear tires are 272 60 15 drag radials and the front are 275 60 15 tires but will need to be replaced as they are old

I have 2 sets of T-tops that go with the car one set is Chrome color and the other set is smoked  I have only one set of T-top bags

If you have any question please ask.... I have this car listed else where and reserve the right to sell until the reserve is met when the reserve is met It will no longer be for sale locally

On Sep-17-14 at 20:53:04 PDT, seller added the following information:

 just some clarification

referring to "old" tires.... the rear tires are like new...just the front tires are the ones that will need to be replaced in the near future

referring to the oil leak.....    I started the motor this morning  let it run 30-40 minutes let it sit  till this evening and it left an oily spot the diameter of the bottom of a soda can right under the flywheel dust cover   could be as simple as a oil sending unit or as bad as a rear main seal     I'm not sure this size oil leak could be considered unreasonable for a 69 model motor, but I would much rather you know now..... I have been places that I was asked to put a piece of card board under my truck "just incase"

referring to a trade.... I do trade as this is how I ended up with this beauty

Thanks for asking

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Phoenix LJ Hatchback

Sun, Jan 22 2023

The car-building world was rushing headlong into front-wheel-drive by the late 1970s, eager to reap the weight-saving and space-enhancing benefits of front-drive designs. General Motors designed an innovative FWD platform to replace the embarrassingly outdated Chevrolet Nova and its siblings, and that ended up being the Chevrolet Citation. The other US-market GM car divisions (except Cadillac) got a piece of the X-Body action, and the Pontiac version was called the Phoenix. Here's one of those first-year Phoenixes, not doing a very good job of rising from its snow-covered ashes in a Colorado self-service yard. Pontiac had used the Phoenix name on a luxed-up iteration of Pontiac's version of the Chevy Nova during the 1977-1979 model years, and so it made sense to apply that name to the Pontiac-ized Citation. Phoenix production continued through the 1984 model year (the Citation managed to hang on through 1985). Just to confuse everyone, the Nova name was revived in 1985, on a NUMMI-built Toyota Corolla. The LJ trim level was the nicest one for the 1980 Phoenix, and it included lots of trim upgrades and convenience features. However, even Phoenix LJ buyers had to pay extra for a three-speed automatic transmission instead of the base four-on-the-floor manual ($337, or about $1,291 in 2022 dollars). If you wanted air conditioning, that was another $564 and you had to get the $164 power steering and the $76 power brakes with it (total cost in 2022 dollars: $3,080). Affordable cars weren't so affordable back then, not once you started adding basic options. Both generations of the Phoenix had grilles influenced by those of the Pontiacs of earlier years. The base engine was the chugging 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, but a 2.8-liter V6 was optional. This car has the V6, rated at 115 horsepower rather than the Duke's miserable 90 horses. The price tag: 225 bucks, or 862 inflation-adjusted 2022 bucks. The Phoenix was available just as a two-door coupe and five-door hatchback. The MSRP on this car would have started at $6,127, or around $23,469 now. That would have been a pretty good deal even after paying for the options, with the Phoenix's excellent mix of good interior space and solid fuel economy… but the Citation and its kin (the Oldsmobile Omega and Buick Skylark as well as the Phoenix) suffered from seemingly endless, highly publicized recalls and quality problems.
