This '69 Firebird 400 was completely Rotisserie restified in 2009, and it is absolutely spectacular! It's an original PHS documented 400 4 speed car, sold new in Fullerton, California!

.

The car was done to the highest standards throughout! The paint and bodywork is incredible - it is super deep, and show quality. The whole car is show quality!

.

Look at those big Boyd Coddington wheels are tucked underneath the factory sheetmetal - they fit perfectly! they're 18" Wheels with staggered tire sizes to fit the wheel openings. Z rated tires, too.

.

Wow! The prettiest Firebird ever!

.

Spectacular!

.

69 is a great year for the Firebird.

.

Perfect Stance and attitude.

.

.

Here's one of my favorite Pontiac accessories, a hood tachometer - and, you can see this one is working too! Everything on this car works great.

.

The dashboard is incredible, all custom fabricated from Aluminum, and beautifully crafted. It's spectacular with Auto-Meter Phantom gauges.

.

Another view of the beautiful dash.

.

Gorgeous

.

The Grant Rosewood Banjo steering wheel and polished Tilt Steering column are nice touches!

.

It's a Factory 4 Speed car, with console and correct shifter. The shifter is super smooth and feels great.

.

Buckets & Headrests!

.

Power window switches. All 4 of 'em work vigorously. Also note the Remote mirror control.

.

This interior could not be any nicer - custom, but done in a tasteful way.

.

Look at that ENGINE! It's the correct WZ 400 Block, with serpentine belt system, hot rod Air ( Hot Rod Air is a modern street rod style Air conditioning system. It works great!). It really runs great, good power, good oil pressure, and cool operating temperatures - 180 to 190 all the time. I did note an oil leak, presumably a rear main seal.

.

Power Steering and Power 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES ! Aluminum radiator too, with thermostatically controlled dual electric fans.

.

Even the A-Arms and Subframe were powdercoated when the restoration was done! Look how clean it all is underneath!

.

Every detail is nicely finished and pretty, like all those allen button screws holding the radiator air shrouds on. Everywhere you look, this car is beautiful!

.

Look how clean it is underneath! With new gas tank, 10 bolt positraction rear axle, and clean painted body sheetmetal and aluminized exhaust!

.

Here's another view of the clean undercarriage. This car was frame-off restored !

.

Here's the Pontiac Historic Services document, showing the car started life as a 400 4 speed, and was delivered new in California, where it has remained ever since!

.

The trunk is nicely finished, with matching grey carpet over clean, original sheetmetal.

.

Look at the reflection on the paint, that paint is wonderful show quality work!

.

Wow!

Stunning! Ready for show or maybe the Hot Rod power tour!

Unbelievably nice!

Lovely!

Ready for you to enjoy now!

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Pontiac Firebird

Mon, Dec 18 2023

Last spring, this series featured a 1992 Chevrolet Camaro RS in a Northern California junkyard, an example of the final model year for the highly successful third-generation GM F-Body. On a later visit to that yard, I spotted the Pontiac sibling to that car, a Firebird that was born the same year at the same Southern California factory. When the Chevrolet Division introduced the first Camaro as a 1967 model, the Pontiac Division got its own version of the F-Body called the Firebird. While the two cars were built on the same chassis and looked very similar, the first-generation Camaros got Chevrolet engines while their Firebird colleagues got Pontiac engines (including the innovative SOHC straight-six). The 1970-1981 second-generation Firebirds still had some Pontiac-only engines, but Chevrolet and Oldsmobile power crept under some hoods during that period. The third-generation Firebirds first appeared as 1982 models, and they drew from near-identical stockpiles of GM running gear (including the distinctly agricultural Iron Duke four-banger, which could be considered a Pontiac-derived engine). When the Camaro got the axe after 2002, the Firebird's neck was put on the same chopping block. When the Camaro returned for 2010, the Pontiac brand was sputtering to an agonized halt during its final year and there was no chance of the Firebird's return. This car is a fairly ordinary coupe, though it does have the mid-grade 205-horsepower 5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block V8 instead of the base 140-horse 3.1-liter V6. A 5.7-liter small-block was available as well. A five-speed manual transmission was base equipment, but few Americans wanted a three-pedal setup by the early 1990s. This car has the optional four-speed automatic. The MSRP with 5.0 engine, automatic transmission and air conditioning (which this car has) started at $14,304. That's about $31,868 in 2023 dollars. It was built at Van Nuys Assembly in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County. By the dawn of the 1990s, the Camaros and Firebirds made at Van Nuys Assembly had become known as the worst-built GM cars made in North America, and the plant was shut down forever soon after this car was built. Today, a shopping mall lives where the factory once stood. This car managed to drive more than 150,000 miles during its life, so it beat the odds. The thrid-gen F-Body was pretty antiquated by the early 1990s, but the fourth-gen cars handled better and looked up-to-date for the era.

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Autoblog may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Pricing and availability is subject to change. No donation or payment necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. See official rules on Omaze. Normally when we write about Omaze sweepstakes, they involve a car that you'd never go out and buy on your own. A six-figure camper van build, a $300,000 Ford Bronco restoration, a Land Rover Defender that's so beautiful it should be in a museum. Today's prize might beat out all of those, because not only could you win a dream car, you'll be entered for a chance to win $100k cash to go along with it.  There are a lot of cars you can buy with $100k. You could buy a Land Cruiser Heritage Edition or a Mustang GT500 or 6 Chevy Sparks and start your own racing series. Personally, if I won that kind of dough, assuming I also won this Bentley Bentayga, my favorite of Omaze's current offerings, I'd probably use some of it to buy something quirky, like a Honda Element converted into a pop-top camper, or a restored/upgraded 60 series Land Cruiser. Think that's a terrible way to spend the cash? That's the beauty of it. It is completely up to you. No one can tell you what to do with it. Except maybe your spouse.  Here are our favorite vehicle giveaways we’ve found online this week: 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition - Enter at Omaze Regardless of what you think about Ford using the name Mustang for an electric crossover, one thing is for certain, the Mustang Mach-E GT is an impressive piece of machinery.
