1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am convertible clone Please read the description thoroughly and I will try to walk you through the condition, etc. Exterior: Paint is in good shape, hood is fiberglass with Trans Am stripes. The hood scoops are not functional but are cut out. I have included a photo of two or three very small rust bubbles about the size of your pinky fingernail on the lower area of drivers side door. All lights work and top is nearly brand new, has power antenna. I have only had the top up 3 or 4 times in 8 years, it is electric and works perfectly, rear window is plastic. Chrome is in good shape as are the Rally II wheel set. Tires all have good tread. Small oil drip which is common for cars of this age. Working hood tach with "Pontiac" emblazened on face which lights up. Interior: No tears in seats or carpets, has a blue Firebird mat set, dash is good and not cracked, burlwood dash and center console. Interior courtesy lights work. This car has an aftermarket formula wheel with wings down Firebird emblem. A few of the original Trans Am's came with this type wheel in 1969. I have an Audiosound aftermarket AM/FM cassette player with Mp3 connection that fits in the hole where the existing AM radio used to be. This car has tilt wheel with working cigarette lighter. Seatbelts in the front appear to be original rear seat belts were installed by me. Engine/Transmission: I have owned 6 or 7 Firebirds or Trans Ams and have not been real familiar with engine types beyond how many cubic inches it has. This car came to me badged as a 428, the engine block numbers are as follows and are in the photo section as well. (0739793 YH) VIN # on block does not match VIN number on the dash. This car is an automatic which shifts and drives fine. We drive it almost every weekend. It has R-12 factory air which needs to be recharged but does produce ice cold air. I have not recharged it in two years since I keep the top down almost all the time. It has an oversized aluminum radiator with two electric cooling fans. Temp rises if you sit in traffic for a long time but doesn't go above 200. Car runs at about 165-175 degrees around town. This engine is very reliable and has never left me stranded it always starts and always runs. It has a good sounding exhaust with aluminum headers. Engine has a 4 barrel Edlebrock carburetor and is very clean under the hood. Odometer says 59,304 not sure if that is correct but odometer does work. The car is fast and accelerates nicely. Separate oil pressure and temperature gauges have been installed and both work fine. What does this car need? 1. Horn on steering wheel does not work. (missing the internal cam piece) separate horn button under dash works. 2. Turn signal return does not work (see above) 3. "High" selection on AC blower motor does not work (my mechanic says it is a relay under the hood) 4. Driver's seat could use new spring/cushion it is probably the original 5. Windshield washer spray nozzles that go on the wipers are missing, I have a set but have not installed them 6. Parking brake light on dash does not work possibly a burned out light bulb These are all very minor issues and do not affect driving of this beautiful car. Payment must be in the form of a cashiers check, money order or cash. In the case of a cashiers check it must clear my bank before I will release the car. I have a clean title in my hand. Please let the auction run its course before asking what I would take for the car. I have 100% feedback and I am honest, I hope you are as well. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to pull this ad if it sells. These (clones) are getting harder to find I searched for a while before I found this one. Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC
Thu, 06 Feb 2014We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ
Sat, Mar 4 2023A couple of years before John DeLorean and his team at the Pontiac Division created the GTO by pasting a big engine and some gingerbread on the LeMans, they created a rakish, powerful coupe based on the staid full-size Catalina. This was the 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix, which sold like crazy and escalated the personal luxury coupe war already brewing in Detroit. Starting with the 1969 model year, the Grand Prix switched to a smaller chassis (shared the following year with the new Chevrolet Monte Carlo), and all subsequent rear-wheel-drive Grand Prix (that is, through 1987) remained siblings of the Monte. Today's Junkyard Gem is a rare 1980 Grand Prix LJ, found in a self-service yard near Reno, Nevada. Sure, a fresh round of Middle East conflict had put a kink in America's fuel hose in 1979, leading to gas lines and a general sense of malaise, but at least the new Grand Prix looked extra sharp for 1980. The LJ package came with all sorts of appearance and comfort goodies, including these "luxury seats with loose-pillow design in New Florentine Cloth." A Pontiac Phoenix LJ was available as well. These seats must have been very comfortable when new. Who needed a Cadillac when Pontiac would sell you this car at a base MSRP of just $7,000 (about $26,704 in 2023 dollars)? That price was what you paid if you were willing to get the base 3.8-liter Buick V6, though. To get a V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor, you had to pay extra. If you did pay the extra for a V8, which one you got depended on which state you lived in; in California, you got this 305-cubic-inch (5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block), and in the other 49 states you got a 301-cubic-inch (4.9-liter) Pontiac. The 305 was rated at 150 horsepower with 230 pound-feet; the 301 made 140hp and 240 lb-ft. This car was originally bought in California (the state line is about ten miles away from its final parking spot), so it has the Chevy engine. The V8 added $195 (plus $250 for the California-only emissions system) to the out-the-door price of the car, or about $1,316 in 2023 dollars. Outside of California, a 4.3-liter Chevy V6 was available for just 80 additional bucks ($305 now). All 1980 Grand Prix got a three-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, with no manual available from the factory. This car has the optional air conditioning, which cost $601 ($2,293 after inflation). This is the "Custom Sport" steering wheel, which was standard on the LJ. The tilt option cost $81 ($309 today).
