This coupe has undergone a complete restoration.  This is a unibody car, which means there is no frame with the exception to the engine subframe clip.  The Firebird received a 2 year restoration with almost every major body panel addressed. The following is a list of items that needed to be addressed:

New Roof Skin
New Full front to rear floor pans including seat pans
New Lower Rocker Panels
New Trunk Lid
New passenger Door
New full rear quarters
New inner and outer rear wheelwells
New front dash to cowl dash pan
New rear window to trunk filler panel
New Front fenders, both sides, including inner wheel wells
There is no bondo, or patches. Every panel was replaced with new full metal material.

The car was originally delivered with a straight 6 engine and a powerglide transmission. The engine was swapped out for a 69 GTO block motor at some point in its life.
The 400 engine has been rebuilt and bored 30 over.  It received a Ram Air III grind on the cam shaft.  a new dual exhaust setup was installed.  Anchored to this engine is a rebuilt 1969 Turbo 400 Transmission hooked to a non-posi rear end.

The build sheet indicates this car was originally Springmist Green with a Black Vinyl top and Black deluxe interior.
The car was repainted basecoat clear coat Silver ( which was a special order color in 1968 )
Finishing off the exterior is brand new front and rear chrome bumpers.  Part of the Deluxe interior option was chrome wheel well trim which compliment the reproduction trim rings on the restored Rally II wheels. The car was originally ordered with the Deluxe black interior,  and was completely redone with the correct deluxe interior, this time in Red to compliment the Silver  smooth as glass paint. A satin aluminum trim piece around the inside of the window openings completes the Deluxe Interior option.

Other noteworthy points include a rebuilt front end, new radiator, aftermarket real wood steering wheel, new rear side marker lights, new radial tires, sound deadening insulation,  power steering, power brakes, new drum brakes all around, correct water pump design, new front windshield, new rear leaf springs and shocks. Brand new wiring harnesses for the engine bay, interior dash, and trunk/lights.
Includes spare tire and correct jack set up. I have hundreds of photos documenting the restoration process and paperwork receipts.

Car has received over 30 trophies ( mostly 1st place )  including special awards such as Best Firebird, Best of the Best, and 2nd Place in a Pontiac regional Event.

Steve McQueen barn find: Movie Trans Am surfaces after almost 40 years

Mon, Dec 17 2018

An important Steve McQueen film car has emerged from barn storage. No, it's not yet another " Bullitt" Mustang, quite the contrary: The car in question is a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, and it starred in McQueen's final film, " The Hunter." In the movie, McQueen plays a bounty hunter, and while in " Bullitt" he's quite the wheelman, that's not the case in this one. McQueen's character, "Papa" Thorson, is a horrible driver, and the Trans Am is far too much car for him. A chase sequence sees McQueen driving a combine harvester to catch the perps who are driving his stolen rental Pontiac, and the Trans Am ends up blown in half with dynamite, then returned to the airport on a trailer. The driver of said GMC truck and trailer combination, Harold McQueen (no relation), received the title of the first car used in filming, and for the following decades planned to fix the now-ruined car, but never got around to it. Instead, the 1,300-mile Pontiac wreck sat on a farm for nearly 40 years, until Harold decided to sell it to an enthusiast. There's studio documentation proving the car's pedigree, and stunt modifications can be seen in the Pontiac's floor and dash. While it's obviously in dreadful condition, the car remained more intact than the other stunt car the film crew blew up even more spectacularly — that car ended up as the pile of parts in the airport scene, and those bits and pieces were eventually dropped off at a junkyard after a Pontiac dealer refused them. McQueen did also drive a 1951 Chevrolet in the film, and kept that yellow convertible after filming was wrapped up. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer just a month later, after reportedly being in poor health during the shooting, and passed away in December 1980. The yellow Chevy stayed with his estate for some years, later getting restored and auctioned. Right now, it's not clear what the Trans Am's fate will be. The car's current owner, Calvin Riggs from Carlyle Motors in Katy, Texas, wants to know more about the Trans Am and the film shoot: His post on Hemmings includes a lot of information, but more would be useful. 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
