Up for sale is my 1967 Turn Key firebird,Car had 72k original miles when i bought it and now has 98k, I have owned this for many years and thought i would never sell it but i have other interests now. I built this car to run with the best of them out there, spareing nothing in the build. Its a pump gas motor, total street car or take to the track if you want, its built to stay together.Great car for the Hot Rod Power Tour or Nationals. With over 30k in parts(I have most all receipts) plus what i paid for the car and doing all the labor work myself would put this car in the 50-60k bracket. My reserve is more then fair. I dont need to sell it but if the right guy has the money he can own this beauty and go anywhere and get the attention that it deserves. This car will run in the mid 10s easy. The car came from Texas,I purchased it from a private auction. It is very clean, all original body panels, floors, trunk, etc.as the pics will show, exception is the Spots Performance super 400 fiberglass cowl, hood and springs.Paint now is GM Flame Red single stage sanded & buffed, hood is base /clear.Still has the original brake lines and gas lines.Nice Original intereior, driver door panel has some cracks but i didnt want to change it.( Drivers seat has 3 inch extensions installed for long legs, etc.) I started the build by stripping the cars mechanics from front to rear. I Started at the rear knowing i was going to build a bad ass car.(quick overview)New Moser 12 bolt 373 gears 30 spline Eaton Posi,HD rear cover, stock drive shaft,Drive shaft loops,TCI  Superstreet trans (600 hp plus) deep pan,and 3000 nitro stall converter, polly mount,B&M Promatic shifter, new cross member,461 stroker KRE motor, Rodney Red Radiator..QA1 Coil overs, front and rear 12 way shocks,I have air shocks on the rear at the moment(little softer ride). Jeff Kauffman built the 461 motor, including Eagle rods and 4.25 crank,SRP pistons,Totalseal,Comp Cam 248/254 HR10 roller cam 580 lift.,CAT waterpump,SFI dampner,Rollmaster,BOP,Scorpion rockers 1.6,KRE valve covers,Demon 850,Wilson 1 inch spacer,Mellings,Torker II intake ( now has a port matched Victor intake) CSI high tq starter,100 AMP Alternator,-Edlelbrock Heads,Ferrea valves, heads ported to 330 cfm intake and 240 cfm exhaust. Motor was balanced,Dynoed, etc.I have build sheets and dyno sheets. Its over 600 hp and 600 TQ ,runs well on 93-94 octane. Ive kept the motor chipped at 55 hundred rpm for a long time,Jeffs says motor will turn 75 hundred no problem, but you dont need to do that! I Took it to the 1/8 mile track once after i built it. Didnt change anything except put MT ET Streets on it, 55 chip, the car ran a best of 7.285,Theres room for better times easy. Ever since ive only street drivin and babied it,it handles like a Corvette.Very agressive sound but will idle at 750 all day long. Has approx 8k on entire build. Air cleaner was made by me using two 14 inch K&N air filters so it can be washed and put right back on.Cooling system-Rodney Red radiator, flex light 16 inch fan kit,160 stat, auto temp control fan with over ride switch, relays etc. This is by far the best cooling pontiac ive ever had, runs 185-195 on the road and in town it drops as low as 170. Ive been in parades and in heavy sitting traffic 95 plus degrees and the car cools perfect. Brakes are CPP disc brake conversion, stainless steel lines,7 inch duel brake booster and vacume pump. Rear are all new stock. Car stops very well. Exhaust is RamAir 3 inch outlet super long branch manifolds,3 inchTorque Tech X pipe system, Texas Trans-ams custom made 3 inch mufflers and only 3 inches deep, flowmaster 3 inch 2 piece tail pipes. Built this way for total clearance loading on and off trailers and also no road rash what so ever. With the QA1s installed on the rear the car can be lowered a lot more if desired. Rear of car still carriers its original single leaf springs with Competition Engineering Subframe connectors,Traction bars and Wheel e bars. Done this way to keep a somewhat period correct look. Other items-Msd ignition system,6al box,March serpintine Belt system,Holley electric fuel pump(mounted inside trunk)Billet support bars,Summit digital gauges and Tach, new quick ratio steering box, all front end parts, ball joints etc,PST front end kit and 1 inch sway bar, polly bushings and all polly body mounts. OEM rechromed front and rear bumpers, rocker and wheel well mouldings, front spolier. Body is very clean with exception of touch ups needed on lower rear quarter panels. Rims are American Racing 17x7-17x8 with 275-40-17 on rear and 215-45-17 on front. Rear tires are legal still, included are 2 more new ones.Matching spare wheel in trunk. Also 2 15x8s with M/T et streets 275-50-15 are included. Stereo cd system with JL amp, JL speakers..clean,clear and powerfull sound. All lights work interior and exterior,E-brake works well too. Deposit required after auction (500.00) paypal..balance due cleared ck or cash. Please dont bid unless you are a serious bidder,Car sold as is,I can assist in shipping. If you have any questions please ask. Call me if you want  607-387-9538 Doug... Ebay only allows 24 pics,I have over 100 all together. I can email more if needed. dlw6767@yahoo.com

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

24 Hours of Le Mans live update part two

Sun, Jun 19 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and can hold his breath longer than he can go without swearing. For Part One, click here. Or you can skip ahead to Part Three here. I write about surfing for a living. If you can call it a living. Basically means I spend my days fucking around and my wife pays for everything. Because she's got a real job that pays well. Brings home the bacon. Very progressive arrangement. Super twenty first century. I run a surf website, beachgrit.com, with two other guys. It's a strange gig. More or less uncensored. Kind of popular. Very good at alienating advertisers. My behavior has cost us a few bucks. I'm terrible at self-censorship. Know there's a line out there, no idea where it lies. I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. For contests I do long rambling write ups. They rarely make much sense. Mainly just talk about my life, whatever random thoughts pop into my head. "Can you do something similar for Le Mans?" "Sure, but I know absolutely fuck-all about racing." "That's okay. Just write what you want." "Will do. But you're gonna need to edit my stuff. Probably censor it heavily." So here I am. I spent the last week trying to learn all I can about the sport of endurance racing. But there's only so much you can jam in your head. And I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. While I rambled things were happening. Tracy Krohn spun into the gravel on the Forza chicane. #89 is out of the race after an accident I missed. Pegasus racing hit the wall on the Porsche curves. Bashed up front end, in the garage getting fixed. Toyota and Porsche are swapping back and forth in the front three. Ford back in the lead in GTE Pro. #91 Porsche took a stone through the radiator, down two laps. Not good. The wife and I are one of those weird childless couples that spend way too much time caring for the needs of their pet. French bulldog, Mr Eugene Victor Debs. Great little guy. Spent the last four years training him to be obedient and friendly. Nice thing about dogs, when you're sick of dealing with them you can just lock 'em in another room for a few hours. You don't need to worry about paying for college.

The last Pontiac Fiero sold for $90,000 at auction

Thu, Dec 3 2020

On August 16, 1988 the last Pontiac Fiero, a red GT model, rolled off the assembly line at GM's Pontiac Assembly plant located in Pontiac, Michigan. It wasn't just the final Fiero, but the final car to be built at that site. The car was raffled off to one of 1,400 plant employees that would soon have to find jobs elsewhere. Whoever that employee was, they remained faithful to the Fiero and kept it in mint condition for 32 years. Last month, it was finally time to move on. It crossed the block at GAA Auctions in Greensboro, North Carolina where it sold for an astounding $90,000. According to the auction house, that's a new world record. The price no doubt reflected the car's place in history as the last example of GM's 1980s mid-engined sports car. However, it was also showroom-new, with just 582 miles clocked on its 2.8-liter V6. 1988 models were also fitted with an upgraded, Lotus-esque suspension produced for just that one year. In addition, this car, serial number 226402, came with its original build sheet, photos from the assembly line, and a collection of news articles and books. It still wore its pre-delivery plastic on the interior and was fully loaded with automatic transmission. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The car's custodian for the past 32 years must be pleased. Bidding started at $25,000 but soon rocketed past the $65,000 reserve. You can see the action starting at the 2:50:13 mark in the video above. The Fiero was symbolic of the 1980s and stood out from the standard GM passenger car fare for its mid-engine layout and plastic body panels. In an era when GM often rebadged cars with minimal differences, the Fiero rode on its own unique chassis. It was positioned as one of the defining products for Pontiac, GM's "excitement" brand, but actual performance never quite lived up to its striking looks.  Nevertheless, it garnered a cult following. It's often the basis for (questionable) custom builds mimicking more exotic models like Ferraris and Lamborghinis, thanks to a steel space-frame design that allows body panels to be easily removed. Thankfully, this significant example escaped such a fate and will live on as a reminder of an interesting chapter of automotive history.
