1988 Fiero GT 5 Speed with a Series II 3.8L Supercharged V6 conversion. This is not a quick and dirty back yard swap. It is a professional conversion performed by Sinister Performance in Fort Wayne Indiana in 2007. Driven just over 10,000 miles since the conversion. The car belonged to a Chassis Systems Engineer for Gm when the conversion was done. The donor car for the conversion was a bone stock 88 GT with 123,000 miles in excellent running condition that was purchased in 2005. There is no rust anywhere including problem areas like the trunk corners, radiator supports, engine compartment under battery tray, etc. The 3800SC Series II engine was a zero mileage factory GM dyno engine manufactured in 1998 (Run once on the dyno for quality control on the assembly line. Still fitted with dyno oil when purchased. 5 Speed Getrag Transmission Primary Modifications: CNC ported supercharger housing, smaller diameter s.c pulley, high capacity fuel system, Series III stainless fuel rails, ceramic coated West Coast Fiero Headers, custom aluminized 2.5 inch exhaust with flowmaster muffler (sounds fantastic) new master cylinder and Spec 2+ clutch, Koni shocks and struts, short throw shifter, many upgraded suspension parts, new 13" brakes front and rear. The battery box was relocated to the front trunk with an optimum battery and accessible trickle charger connection. It has 5 Zigen aluminum Racing wheels and BF Goodrich tires. The goal of the conversion was to retain the original stock appearance and driver comforts. Thus considerable time and expense went into retaining the air conditioner and a late model Pontiac CD stereo was installed. Dash and sail panel speakers were swapped for Polk Audio. A Sunbird turbo instrument cluster was installed which looks identical to the Fieros but has a boost gauge. original paint is an 8/10 and the interior is 9.5/10 Please look at the conversion sheet in the pictures. Over $8500 was spent on the engine swap with Sinister Performance not including the new engine, new wheels, and the car itself. There has been over $20,000 spent on this one of a kind car. The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.

Most of us would bend over backwards to have a chance to own a McLaren car, but few can afford such extravagance. That said, there’s a way you can get behind the wheel of a legitimate McLaren without breaking the bank. For 1989 and 1990, the Pontiac Grand Prix was offered in a limited-edition ASC-McLaren variant that featured tuning and updates from the iconic British automaker. Examples of this rare coupe rarely surface for sale, so itÂ’s surprising to see this low-mile 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix ASC-McLaren on eBay. The car is the result of a partnership between American Specialty Cars-McLaren (ASC-McLaren) and Pontiac. WeÂ’re not talking about the McLaren Formula 1 team or even the iconic McLaren road cars here. The McLaren connection comes from an arm of the automakerÂ’s powertrain engineering department. The Grand PrixÂ’s standard 3,1-liter V6 got a massage and a turbocharger, adding 65 horsepower for a total of 205 ponies and 225 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. That output is modest by todayÂ’s standards, and it wasnÂ’t outrageous even by 1990 standards, but the car returned a decent 0-60 mph time of around 7 seconds. The $5,000 ASC-McLaren package added a load of cool 1980s tech to the Grand PrixÂ’s interior, some of which is surprisingly advanced for the time. The car got a head-up display and a digital display on the dash. The steering wheel should be delightfully familiar to anyone who remembers a top-end Pontiac of the era, with the entire center of the wheel filled with buttons instead of the airbags we see today. The car had insanely padded bucket seats front and rear(!) with a distinctive pear shape.Â Many sources peg production numbers between 2,500 and 3,500 units, so the car is relatively rare compared to its mass-produced Pontiac counterparts. This oneÂ’s got just 17,746 miles on the clock, too, and appears to be in excellent condition. ItÂ’s had just two owners and no reported accidents. The seller notes a little surface rust from the car being in storage so long. This era of GM cars tended to deteriorate quickly, so a bit of surface rust shouldnÂ’t be a huge issue.
