Up for sale is a 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula with a Cadillac 4.9L V8 with a 4T60E Trans swapped into it by The Fiero Factory. This Fiero is currently registered and inspected in the state of Virginia. It was running perfectly up til yesterday when the fuel pump died. I no longer have the time to keep tinkering on this car, my job and life events keep me extremely busy now.

The condition of the Fiero is very good other than a couple body panels and the paint is very faded. Otherwise its a rot free Fiero, these are getting harder to find in this condition. It just passed inspection last month. The Passenger Front Fender is Cracked and the Hood has a couple cracks and some chips. I have a replacement hood for it as well as a replacement, OEM Front Bumper Cover. Both go with the sale of the Fiero, unless the buyer doesn't want them for some reason. A few of the marker lights are sun damaged but operable.

The condition of the interior is decent. It has the Beechwood Interior. The dash is sun faded and has a few cracks in it. The headliner is faded but doesn't sag. The seats are Camaro seats, they have a few cuts and gashes in them, they have seen a good amount of wear. The carpet is pretty clean, it does have a couple holes in it that you can't see until you move the seat forward and look for them. The gauges need to be recalibrated and or fixed. I did install some SpeedHut Gauge Overlays on the main gauge cluster, I just never got around to installing the Aux Gauge Overlay and the AC Control Overlay. I purchased and installed some new, handmade Beechwood Shifter Boots for the Auto shifter and the e-Brake Lever. I also installed a recovered leather Cadillac Auto Shifter Knob. I replaced the Window Switches with nice correct switches and panel.

Mechanically, the Fiero was running awesome before the Fuel Pump gave out. I purchased this Fiero from a Gentleman in Kentucky, who has owned this Fiero since 2000. He was the owner that had The Fiero Factory install the 4.9 in it around 2000. Since I have owned this Fiero it has the following work done:

New Brake Pads
New Cross Drilled/Slotted 12" C4 Corvette Rotors (it has a bigger brake swap done)
New Rear Brake Hoses (the front hoses are stainless braided)
New Brake Master Cylinder
New Driver Rear Brake Caliper
New 17" Konig Lace Wheels Staggered (Front: 17x7 40mm offset; Rear 17x8 35mm offset) with locking lug nuts and key.
New Gates Barricade Fuel Hoses
Relocated the Battery to the Front
New KYB Shocks in the Front (I have new KYB Struts for the rear that will go with the Fiero)
New Interstate Battery
New Fuel Filter
Rebuilt/Flowmatched Ford 5.0 Fuel Injectors with Viton Seals by osidetiger
New Adjustable Vacuum Modulator for the 4T60E Transmission
Rebuilt Headlight Motors with Hardened Aluminium Gears and Delrin Bushings.
Installed New JBL 4x6 Plate Speakers in the rear pillars.
Installed Sony Headunit
Installed Momo Millennium Steering Wheel using a NRG Hub (it needs a small spacer so the horn button will sit flush.)

It needs to have the parking brake cables installed if you want to use the parking brake. I have them, they are brand new cable, just never got around to installing them. All you need to do is install a new fuel pump, which requires you to drop the tank and she will be back on the road again. Its not a hard job, I just don't have the time anymore.

It will come with these extra parts at the time of the sale, unless the buyer states they do not want them

Extra set of Notchback Tail Lights
Hood
NOS OEM Front Bumper
New Parking Cables

Detroit City Council vetoes Autorama stunt, objects to Confederate flag

Wed, Feb 20 2019

Detroit's Autorama hot rod show will stage its 67th annual event next month, and wants to kick off with Burt Reynolds tribute. The plan is to re-create the Mulberry Bridge jump from " Smokey and the Bandit" using a movie-correct 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. But the Detroit City Council voted 7-1 to prohibit the jump. Why? Because the Trans Am's front license plate holder displays the former Georgia state flag, a portion of which is the Confederate national flag, and the city council doesn't like that. In the movie, Bo "Bandit" Darville was a Georgia driving legend, and the flag on the car was Georgia's flag at the time. Councilman Scott Benson laid out the council's position when he said that the car "still proudly flies a Confederate flag, which is a symbol of oppression, slavery, as well as home-bred American terrorism. So this body said we are not going to support that type of symbolism nor the audacity to support that type of activity in the city of Detroit." It seems part of the council's ire comes from the same event two years ago. A stunt group called the Northeast Ohio Dukes re-created a "Dukes of Hazzard" jump in 2017 using a series-correct 1969 Dodge Charger, complete with a Confederate flag on the roof. Benson said the stunt group "expressly said they would not display that [Confederate flag] symbol during the jump." Not only was it displayed, but when driver Raymond Kohn gave interviews after the jump, his driving suit featured the Stainless Banner on the collar. Seems the council has been grinding its axe in silence for two years. Now Benson accuses Autorama of "a history of supporting images and symbols of racism, oppression, and white supremacy." Autorama is certain to take place March 1-3 at Cobo Center. This year's show will have around 800 cars on display, along with a special exhibit of 17 low riders and a Batmobile built by Flint native Carl Casper. Even if the Bandit car doesn't make the jump, the Trans Am and other memorabilia from the film will be there. A spokeswoman for Autorama said, "We are continuing to work to try to resolve this with the city." Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek

Tue, Jul 11 2017

Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone.
