 ARE WE THERE YET?

You won't hear that phrase this summer if you're driving this classic Catalina wagon!! Put the kids in the 3rd row rear-facing seat and chances are you won't hear them for the duration of the trip because they will be so fascinated with the whole experience!

This is a good ole' original survivor-type car. A well-kept and well-maintained example right out of southern California until I purchased it last year. Repainted once in it's original color of Mayfair Maize, it sports it's original Black morrokide vinyl interior in excellent condition. 150,000 documented miles but looks and drives and acts like 50,000. Nicely equipped with optional 428 four barrel 360hp engine, Turbo-Hydramatic transmission,Soft-Ray Tinted Glass All Windows, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Windows including rear window, AM Radio with 8-track Player and Rally II Wheels with new P255/70R15 BFGoodrich Radial TA tires. Updates to the suspension include ADDCO 1 1/8 inch diameter sway bars front and rear, also aftermarket boxed rear control arms with polyurethane bushings.This car handles as well as a stock 1970 GTO!

The body is in excellent original condition with all it's original sheetmetal and is rustfree! Underbody, floors and frame are as solid as the day they were manufactured.No collision damage, rust repairs or other structural problems are evident.Paint is respectable for an older repaint but not perfect. It's a five-footer, a car you can drive to a local cruise nite or down to the local mall and not worry about it. There are some small stone chips, dings,nicks and scratches as you would expect.

The 428 purrs like a kitten and starts up every time now that I installed new Delco battery cables, starter motor and a new battery! I also upgraded the engine compartment wiring harness with a new one from M&H and a new correct internally-regulated 70amp alternator with correct 69 housings.New halogen sealed-beam headlamps and other newer parts such as hoses, belts,dual exhaust system, radiator, brake shoes, pads.Also all four new ACDelco Shock Absorbers with adjustable Super-lift air shocks in rear.

All the options work properly including the Air Conditioning.The AC blows cold but I suspect it could use a recharge because it's not as cold as my other Pontiac, which is fully charged.Hi-blower relay needs replaced,too.Sometimes you have to press on the window switches to make them work.I added new Pontiac floor mats over the original carpeting, which is in great condition. I also purchased an original 69 Pontiac AM/FM Stereo Radio but have not installed it.It is included with the purchase of the car. As well, I will throw in an original Power Bench Seat track and motors setup I bought for the car but never installed.

Overall, the car is a great driver, both looks and performance wise. It receives attention everywhere it goes! It's a good ole' reliable Pontiac that I bought last year to possibly tow a small camper trailer and use as a reliable summer vacation car. The trailer I purchased is much too large for this vehicle so I bought a truck to pull it.

The buy now price is just under what I have into it and the reserve slightly less than that so please don't waste any time with low-ball offers.Thanks for looking at my auction!

Burt Reynolds' personal 1977 Trans-Am from Smokey And The Bandit for sale

Smokey and the Bandit is one of those quintessential 1970s car movies with insane premises but tons of fun. After all, the basic plot of the film is about distracting the police to transport cases of Coors beer cross country. While Burt Reynolds receives top billing, the real star is definitely his black Pontiac Trans-Am. Now, there's a chance to posses one of these muscle machines actually owned by Reynolds, and it's already proving quite popular. The car is a '77 Trans-Am with the famous, gold screaming chicken proudly on the hood. However, while this is a piece of Reynolds memorabilia, it's not really part of cinematic history. According to the listing, this example was used as a promotional vehicle and then given to Reynolds with a title showing him as a previous owner for proof. Still, there's 400-cubic-inch (6.55-liter) V8 under the hood with a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission. A plaque inside the driver's door proclaims the car as a "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds," and there's a Bandit logo on the door. This is just one lot of Julien Auction's sale of Reynolds memorabilia on December 11 and 12 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Bidding is already running online, and the Trans-Am is up to $130,000, as of this writing. For the true Reynolds fanatic, the auction also lists the motorized stagecoach from his wedding to Loni Anderson. It rides built on an International Harvester Scout frame with an interior reportedly from Dolly Parton.

Junkyard Gem: 2008 Pontiac G5 Coupe

In the grim early days of the Great Recession, the situation at GM's Pontiac Division didn't feel so great but there was some cause for optimism. The Solstice still had a certain glow, the Holden Commodore-based G8 had just arrived, and vehicle shoppers could stride into their local Pontiac showrooms and choose from eight different models bearing the iconic arrowhead badge. Yes, there were still new Torrents and Grand Prix and Vibes for sale in 2008, and of course the Cavalier-twin Sunfire had been replaced by the Cobalt-twin G5 by that time. Here's one of those G5s, found in a Colorado Springs car graveyard. It wasn't long after this car was built that everything went to hell for Pontiac. In April of 2009, GM announced that the Pontiac Division would be "phased out" over the next few years. Just to drive home the point, GM itself filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy five weeks later. GM had already offed Oldsmobile—a marque dating back to 1897, making it nearly 30 years Pontiac's senior—five years earlier, so everybody knew there would be no reprieve in this case. Just to confuse everybody, Pontiac dealers offered a G3-badged Chevy Aveo (aka Daewoo Kalos) to sell alongside the G5 for 2009, but by 2010 there were just two new Pontiac models still standing in the United States: the G6 and the Vibe. Just over 70,000 G5s were sold in the United States during the 2007-2009 model years, making these cars fairly rare. The Cobalt/G5 ignition-switch fiasco of the mid-2010s really hammered their resale value at the time. Sometimes the definition of "Gem" refers to historical value, not the happier kind. Speaking of ignition switches, the key is still in this one. That generally means that a junkyard vehicle is a dealership trade-in or insurance total that couldn't sell at auction. This one is a base model, which listed at $15,675 (about $22,040 in 2023 dollars). The snazzier G5 GT started at $19,850 ($27,911 now) that year. The engine in this car is a 2.2-liter Ecotec four-banger rated at 148 horsepower and 152 pound-feet (the GT got a 2.4 with 171 hp/167 lb-ft). A five-speed manual was standard equipment, but the buyer of this car paid extra for the automatic. GM stuck these little "Mark of Excellence" badges on the fenders of its vehicles starting in 2005, then ditched the idea in 2009. I have vivid memories of this logo from the seatbelt buttons in my parents' 1973 Sportvan Beauville.

Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.
