Ho Ho Ho Christmas Came Early, 1970 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible Near Mint Nr on 2040-cars
Byron, Illinois, United States
HO HO HO Christmas Just Came Early! Look what was hiding in my neighbor’s garage, a MINT, 1970 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible in near mint condition! (If it were not for the dent in the drivers rear fender where someone leaned on it too hard, this car would be nearly perfect!) One of my neighbors inherited this BEAUTIFUL piece of Muscle Car history from his grandfather, who he believes was either the original owner, or the 2nd owner, either way he owned it for over 30 years and always kept it in his garage: AND IT SHOWS!!! This car is SPECTACULAR inside and out. I cannot see one spot of rust ANYWHERE, not on the outside, under it, in the floor pans: NO RUST ANYWHERE! This is by far one of the cleanest, most beautiful pieces of American Pontiac History I have ever seen! You will NOT find a cleaner used muscle car on e-bay: GUARANTEE IT! O, and did I mention it’s a RAG TOP! So yes, when you are cruising the town showing off your AWESOME sounding 455 muscle car, you can pop the top and watch their jaws drop! This car is a stunner and would not need much to be a show winner! They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, so I have included a bunch of great ones, but I wonder what a video is worth: PRICELESS! Watch the videos below then give me a call if you are ready to own this beautiful rag top! Let’s go over a few details: Green paint appears to be the original paint. (I just had a 40 year paint and body expert come and inspect the car and he says it’s the original paint and could not even find a spot where it might have been touched up! He said the dent on the rear quarter could easily be popped out but might leave a small blemish in the paint, so we are going to let the new owners do it!) Inside of the car is amazing as well and shows like a car with only 86,000 original miles should: BEAUTIFUL! No rips are tears anywhere. Just look at the truck floor pan, PERFECT SHAPE! Under the hood the 455 looks and sounds awesome, it could use some black paint touch up and replace the inner fender mud guards, but looks great as well! Top is in MINT condition and works perfect! O, and its electric, hit the switch and she comes right down! This car has NOTHING to hide, it’s the real deal, so if you are ready to own this beautiful piece of muscle car history, call me before someone beats you to it. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so car will sell, but I do have a BUY IT NOW price that I will ONLY discuss over the phone, so if you are serious about owning this car call me today at: 815-904-9447, you will not be disappointed, she is a real beauty!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paF6j7VLO-w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VjT0kQ3AiI |

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon
Tue, Aug 9 2016During the 1960s and 1970s, station wagons based on full-sized Detroit sedans were the default family haulers, and many of those Kingswood Estates and Country Squires and Ambassadors came with unapologetically phony woodgrain-printed exterior paneling and trim. By the late 1980s, however, few were snapping up such wagons, making this '87 Safari that I spotted in a Denver yard an interesting find. Power for this wagon came from a 307-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 making 140 horsepower. General Motors used this engine in Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs, finally discontinuing production for the 1990 model year. Was the "wood" convincing, even when new? Of course not, but it was a cherished American tradition. Related Video: Featured Gallery 1987 Pontiac Safari station wagon in Colorado junkyard View 18 Photos Auto News Pontiac station wagon
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE
Sat, Dec 2 2017Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. Even the wretched Daewoo-built Pontiac LeMans gets more screen time than the forgotten 6000 in this 1991 TV ad featuring the voice of Captain Picard. Pontiac should come back as a performance division for GM
Thu, Apr 6 2017For decades the Pontiac brand was known as GM's performance brand. From the 1964 Pontiac GTO, to the 1967 Firebird, to the 1984 Fiero, to the 2006 Solstice Turbo, and 2009 G8 GXP, Pontiac had a reputation for building exciting cars, with bold styling and performance to back it up. When the Camaro was killed off in 2002, the Pontiac Firebird died off with it, and the last Pontiacs were built in early 2010. But with names like G3, G4, and G6, Pontiac's performance image had long faded from it's earlier glory days. My idea for Pontiac's revival would be to bring it back as a dedicated performance marque similar to Chevy's Super Sport (SS) line up of years past. First, and most obvious would be to bring back the Pontiac Firebird. Offering the entry-level model with the Camaro's 275HP turbo 4 cylinder engine, then having the Camaro SS's 455HP V8, but also offering a halo model Trans Am that is a revamped Camaro ZL-1 along with it's tire-shredding 650HP, supercharged V8 and race tuned suspension. Secondly, I would bring back the GTO. Which I would base on the current Chevy SS, but I would use the full 455-horsepower LS4 V8 (rather than the 415-hp setup that it has now). Furthermore, I would add the impressive 650-hp supercharged V8 to provide real competition to the Charger Hellcat. Importantly, I would make sure that the new GTO had bold, distinctive styling that really set it apart. I understand that purists would want any Pontiac GTO to be a two-door coupe, but I think that they could forgive that if the new GTO was an outstanding American performance car. Next, I would take the Buick Cascada convertible, add much bolder styling, swap in the Camaro's 275-hp turbo engine, and tune up the suspension to provide more performance than luxury (without being harsh). And finally I would round out the line up by using the new 2018 Traverse , but use the new, bold Pontiac design language to spice up the model's looks, tweak the engines for more power, and again provide a performance suspension that matches the model's new sporty looks. Obviously, having a high performance Pontiac model line up would steal away some sales from Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac models. But I think that it would more than make up for this by also stealing away sales from competing brands.
