1996 Pontiac Bonneville Ssei Sedan 4-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Clarington, Ohio, United States
'96 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi. 3.8 supercharged V6 L67 engine. RARE factory deleted rear spoiler! Runs strong. Transmissions works and shifts perfect! Engine has a coolant leak at the plastic elbow connector. It may also have a lower intake manifold leak. I say may because I have noticed condensation in the oil cap along with small droplets of what looks like the orange dex-cool antifreeze, also in the cap, however I never did a pressure test. The driver side axle boot has a split in it, but I have a new axle for it, which will be included. Small rust area over the left rear quarter and two small dents in left front fender. Underneath the car is clean and solid. Brake lines are all solid. Rear air leveling system works well and looks like all the struts may have been replaced at one time. The automatic climate control is stuck in the default position, which is floor and defrost, but the heat and air work. Great eight speaker CD sound system! Interior is clean. Leather seats are in good condition with only minor normal cracking hear and there, but no splits. Sun roof works perfect and no leaks. It also has the Heads Up Display in windshield.
Has brand new Michelin Hydro Edge tires, new front rotors with new ceramic brake pads. New rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders. New nose drive on the supercharger. Hood was repainted due to the clear coat peeling. It was painted to the exact paint code listed, but is just a very slight more blue than the old paint. As was explained to me, this is due to there may have been a different "alternate" used at the factory. The difference is very slight and depending how the sun hits it, barely noticeable. I thought it was worth mentioning just so there's no hidden surprises. The rest of the paint is in very good condition! I have described everything I can think of as best as I can. Be sure to ask any questions. With a little more TLC, this will be a really nice car. My intentions was to do that, but my time doesn't permit right now and I hate to see it just sit. Car sold AS IS! |

German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate
Thu, Mar 21 2019It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.
GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
