what i know about 1966 pontiac`s you could write on a postage stamp. so if you are reading this then i am sure you know way more than me about this kind of antique car.this old girl belongs to a guy that works for me and he has no computer so i am listing it on his behalf. i heartily encourage you to come see and drive the old girl if at all possible, its a good solid old car. so, up for auction is this really cool 1966 bonneville hard top with a GREAT original interior. she has a great big 389 ci V8 in her which runs GREAT and and without any rattles, knocks or smoke. the old girl has a good exhaust and the tires have good tread. she has some great options and is fitted with A TILT STEERING column which has a REALLY GOOD ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL, remote control drivers door mirror, power trunk release, factory power antenna, fender skirts and factory A/C, power steering and power brakes. the panel at the bottom of the back glass does have some small rust out but it will be a very easy fix, please see the close up picture`s. the floor pans are all very SOLID. the rocker panels are also solid as a rock, i should know because i jumped up and down on them!! there is some evidence of old old bodywork midway up the quarter panel`s, on right rear door and the left front fender. but it must have been done donkeys years ago. i got the best pictures i could but its hard to capture as the sunlight reflects off of the gold paint. i took the trunk mat out to show you that the trunk floor will need a little repair, i would say its about 80% solid. but from underneath and looking up i can see that the the inner quarter panels and the outer edges of the trunk pan look really good. the gas tank needs some heavy repair work or maybe just replace it. the frame rails are all very good, just a little surface rust thats it. the underside lip of trunk lid and the hood lip are in really nice condition. the A/C is all complete and original as far as i can tell and everything is still hooked up, i am sure its still on R12.

the local pontiac guru liked the car a lot and he really knows these cars, he has grand prix`s, a GTO and a catalina convertible, all nice cars and a credit to him.

the reserve is set low, to where my guy is only losing his shirt and not his first born child, LOL.

right now the old girl will crank right up and drive around the yard or onto a trailer with the engine running off of a one gallon gas can under the hood. but she has not been on the road for a couple of years and the brakes are way low. the new owner will need to trailer the old girl away. i can provide a shipping quote if you give me the town you live in and the zip code. if you have any questions, want to make an offer or need more pictures please email. or you can call me on 864 616 6860 up until 10 pm east coast time. shipping over sea`s is no problem at all and charleston port is only 4 hours east of me. i have already shipped antique cars to england, germany, sweden and australia. the old girl came out of georgia which is a non title state for any vehicle this old. she will be sold on a bill of sale only. the original keys are with the car. i had to click one of the boxes under 'title' so i clicked clear as there was nothing there pertaining to non title states.

i am sure i am missing things here as i am not that familiar with this kind of car so i encourage you to call or better yet stop by and see the car in person. any inspection is welcome and we can put her up on a lift so you can have a really good look underneath.

to sum up, this is a really solid original car that will be a really fun cruiser for the summer without spending much money. what needs to be done can be accomplished by anyone with some hand tools and a little bit of mechanical knowledge. a few weekends work will have this baby purring down the highway.

FULL PAYMENT IN THREE DAYS. the ONLY methods of payment are CASH IN PERSON or a BANK WIRE TRANSFER. no other type of payment will be accepted and if you cannot comply with these simple terms then simply do not bid. thanks and good luck y`all.

BMX rider flips for wrecked Detroit football stadium

Fri, Jun 12 2015

Detroit is littered with derelict ruins. Abandoned automotive assembly plants, sure – but also former sports venues, like Tiger Stadium in Corktown, Roesink Stadium in Hamtramck, and the Silverdome in Pontiac. BMX rider Tyler Fernengel remembers going to see the Lions and Pistons play at the Silverdome in his youth, and competed there in Supercross as a boy. The stadium hasn't been used in years, but now, with his career just picking up, Tyler has returned to film this video – riding through its halls, jumping its stairwells and flipping over its grandstands and field. It's a fitting tribute to a once-great venue of suburban Michigan. Check out the footage in this latest clip from Red Bull. NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.

Junkyard Gem: 1964 Pontiac Catalina Custom Ventura

Mon, May 22 2023

Like Impala, Skylark, Malibu and Silverado (among many others), the Ventura name began its career as the designation for a trim level or option package used on another GM model, then became a model name in its own right. Initially a designation for a snazzed-up Pontiac Catalina two- or four-door hardtop, the Ventura name moved over to a Pontiac-ized version of the Chevy Nova for 1971. Today's Junkyard Gem, found in a Northern California car graveyard, proudly bears both Catalina and Ventura badging. Actually, the Catalina name itself started out as a trim level for the Chieftain and Star Chief models of the 1950s, just to confuse everybody. By the time this car was built, the Catalina was the cheapest of four Pontiac models built on the same full-size B-Body platform as the big Chevrolets and Olds 88s of the time (the Star Chief, Bonneville and Grand Prix ranked above it on the 1964 Pontiac Prestige-O-Meter). The 1964 Catalina four-door hardtop with the Custom Ventura package offered a lot of swank per dollar, with a price starting at $3,063. That's about $29,821 when converted to inflated 2023 dollars. The main benefit of the Custom Ventura package was an interior done up entirely in Morrokide upholstery. Morrokide was the name GM applied to Naugahyde fake leather when used in Pontiac vehicles; when used in Buicks, it was known as Cordaveen, while Oldsmobile Naugahyde was called Morocceen. Naugahyde took its name from the town of Naugatuck, Connecticut, where it was invented. This car's Morrokide is in rough shape. In fact, everything about this car is decayed and probably infectious. You know to be careful when a junkyard car has warnings about rat feces inked on the glass. That said, I couldn't resist examining the 8-track tapes that littered the interior. Here's Hotel California, the 1976 hit album by the Eagles. Supertramp's Paris, a live album recorded from the 1979 Breakfast in America tour, is here as well. Here's The Best of Carly Simon, from 1975. The tapes were played on this Sparkomatic player, which probably lived in the glovebox or under the seat. The factory radio was AM-only, and includes the frequency markings for the atomic-attack CONELRAD emergency frequencies. 1964 was the last year for mandatory CONELRAD radios in the United States.
