1964 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE. BARN FIND. CAR WAS PARKED IN 1967 WHEN ORIGINAL OWNERS WIFE DECIDED IT WAS TOO LONG FOR HER TO DRIVE. IT HAS 5691 ORIGINAL MILES. I PULLED IT OUT OF THE BUILDING MYSELF. IT WAS BEHIND MANY MORE CARS THAT HAVE BEEN PARKED SINCE THE 60S AND 70S. RUST FREE CAR. HAS SURFACE RUST BUT NO ROTT. CAR IS 100% ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE TIRES AND RADIATOR I PUT IN IT. HERE IS THE WORK I HAVE DON TO IT. I CHANGED THE OIL, CLEANED UP THE CARBURETOR, CHANGED OUT RADIATOR AND ANTIFREEZE. PUT A SET OF POINTS IN IT AND A NEW BATTERY. I BLEW OUT THE FUEL LINES AND REMOVED GAS TANK TO CLEAN IT. FUEL TANK IS LIKE BRAND NEW. AFTER DOING THIS WORK I PRIMED THE ENGINE AND IT FIRED RIGHT UP AND ITS BEEN RUNNING EVER SINCE. I ADJUSTED THE BREAKS AND IT STOPS NICE TOO. AFTER TIMING AND TUNING THE CAR RUNS GREAT. EVERYTHING WORKS. AL GAUGES WORK. RADIO WORKS, WIPERS AND ALL LIGHTS WORK ALSO. ORIGINAL CHARGING SYSTEM IS STILL CHARGING. INCREDIBLY ENOUGH THE AC STILL BLOWS FRESH. INTERIOR IS ALL COMPLETE MINUS HEADLINER THAT I REMOVED AND PUT INSIDE TRUNK. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN SELMA CALIFORNIA. I HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE CAR FOR MANY YEARS BUT IT WAS NOT FOR SALE UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN OWNERS SON CONTACTED ME. Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
