Here we have a 1963 pontiac bonneville convertible. It is a nice clean car. I bought it from the original owners son. The car has very low miles, under 100k. The paint is not perfect. Being honest it looks better in the pics than in person. It has a lot of cracking and chips. It is presentable and I would just drive it the way it is. Cruise with the top down and enjoy it. Summer here so don't wait. The car was painted at one point in its life or touched up in areas. The son wasn't sure what he had did. The car has one of the nicest dash boards ever. It's had all it's original gauges. It had the special order vacuum gauges for the manifold and special order tach. All the lights work on the dash. The original radio is there and working. It was ordered special with a tissue box holder below the dash. The interior is original and in good shape for its age. Has a couple blemishes and a few cracks but nothing major. The top is in good shape. No rips. I think the switch is broken that controls the top. I never looked into it. I just put it up and down manually. It has power windows that all work. One or 2 are a little slow and need help sometimes but they are original. The underneath is super clean with NO rust or rot. NO repairs ever made. The chassis is in good shape. No holes or rot. The Brakes all work fine. The suspension and shocks seem good. Drives down the road nice and smooth, Like a Cadillac... The tires are ok shape with a little dry rot and the rims have the original hubcaps. The motor is the original numbers matching 389 4 barrel carb. The transmission shifts perfect. You can drive the car anywhere you need to. The car needs to be painted at some point. There is bodywork on the car but what car this age doesn't have it. The car is pretty straight and it doesn't look like there was any major work or accidents of any type. There is a rust spot on the passenger quarter panel that needs attention. See pics... That's the major stuff on the car. The rest of the body has cracking and paint missing and blemishes here and there. All the lights work the way they should. There is no noises while driving it. It drives beautiful and gets a lot of attention everywhere I go.
I am sure I missed something is the description so please call me at (347)-622-3985 anytime. Leave a message and I will get back to you. Please ask questions.... I strongly urge you to come in person to look at the car. If you can't do it yourself send someone or a company to do so. They don't cost a lot and then you will be happy with your purchase. I also met someone at the last local car show that is a buyers agent and does inspections for people that are far away. I can give you his number to set something up. I have this car listed locally so if it sells I have the right to end the auction early. If you want to make an offer try your best shot, maybe we can work out a deal. I don't want to sell the car, but I just bought a money pit of a house and need the cash. My family comes first. I will hope to be able to find another one, one day. Right now I need to put a roof over our heads. Once again please call with any questions. (347) 622-3985.

This GTO-El Camino mashup is the muscle truck of our dreams

Fri, Aug 31 2018

There were a hell of a lot of great muscle cars in the mid-1960s, from the baroque Dodges and Plymouths of the earlier part of the decade to the wild big boys like the Boss 429 and Olds 442 W30. Right in the middle of the decade, two of the most iconic of the bunch emerged — the Pontiac GTO and second-generation Chevy El Camino. And this one is a 1964 Chevy El Camino with the heart and face of its GTO cousin, and dubbed the El Chieftain GTO. It's currently for sale at RM Sotheby's Auburn auction, with no reserve status or estimate listed. This looks like a product that Pontiac could have sold at the time — its builder, Ron Lindeman, did an excellent job making it look like a factory product, right down to the taillight strakes inspired by the GTO. It's powered by a 389 — a Pontiac motor that was actually found in period GTOs, but sporting a single four-barrel instead of the sexy Tri-Power setup. It is, however, equipped with a Hurst four-speed manual and the grille badge to prove it to bystanders. Even the interior is made up to look like a GTO. We wish there was more of a description of the build in the listing, but if you love it, do us one better and buy the thing and invite us to poke around it. We are very much in love with this muscle-truck mashup. Destiny: General Motors should bring back Pontiac

Wed, Apr 26 2017

Despite having officially left the market in 2010, the Pontiac badge is still a common sight on roadways throughout the United States. Towards the end of its life, Pontiac models were largely rebadged versions of other General Motors vehicles, like the Pontiac G5 and Chevrolet Cobalt. It's sad, but there's no other way to put it; Pontiac was a mere shadow of its former self at the time of its death. Now it's time to revive the legendary brand. General Motors announced it would be reviving the Redline series, a package that originated with Saturn, another dead brand, earlier this year. Some models, like the Chevrolet Camaro will receive unique cosmetic touches designed to make it look even sportier, something Pontiac excelled at in most cases. Gas prices have fallen dramatically in the past few years and consumers have taken notice. Sales of fuel efficient cars, like hybrids and compact sedans, aren't increasing at the same rate as larger, less efficient vehicles, like trucks and SUVs. Muscle cars, like the Ford Mustang, are seeing increasing sales as well. Perhaps it's time to revive Pontiac and restore the marque to its former glory: a brand that brought performance and style at an affordable price. There are currently few manufacturers that offer a true challenge to high-performance automakers like BMW. The German brand continues to see high sales year after year and performance has a lot to do with it. Brand recognition, namely through the BMW badge, plays a major role as well. Pontiac, arguably one of the most well-known brands to ever grace the industry, can match both factors with ease. Pontiac was once revered as a brand that revolutionized the muscle car segment in the 1970s and 1980s. It still has a lively following throughout enthusiast spheres and amongst drivers of all ages to this day. Reviving the brand with a small line of high-performance vehicles would certainly offer a challenge to dominating German brands. A small lineup of affordable vehicles bearing the Pontiac badge and designed for performance and style would certainly make waves in the current market. Reviving a few older nameplates, such as the GTO and Trans Am, would offer nostalgic appeal. Packing both models with a powerful entry-level engine, say the Camaro's turbocharged four-cylinder or V6 engine, would open up the market considerably.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
