1974 Plymouth Roadrunner factory 400 four speed car in yellow and black

I am listing this car for a friend who is now living out of town. The car is close to my home and I do have access to it if you should have any questions that I may not have answered in this listing.

As listed, this is a rare 74 roadrunner factory 4-speed car still wearing most of its factory "yellow blaze" paint and it has "formal black" interior. The previous owner got rid of the 400 and replaced it with a 440, that now sits in the car. He also pulled the original 4-speed (which is in the trunk, complete, working and included in the sale) and replaced it with a 727 and a old school shifter. The car runs and drives but will need a good "going trough" before it should be road worthy. The owner has about 25 cars in his outside storage unit that have been parked for about 2 years. This car is started about every 3 months or so just to keep it from sitting too long, but has not been moved or driven in the time since it was parked.

The body is solid except for a few spots of surface rust here and there (see pics). A new drivers side rear quarter panel was put on about 4 years ago. It has dings, some scratches and some surface rust (as mentioned) though out the car but nothing major at all. Their is a small area of the paint bubbling under the passenger door (see pics) but once again, nothing major. The undercarriage looks really good with no rust or rot as do the floor pans and trunk pan. The engine bay also looks clean and rust free (although it was painted at some point black over the factory yellow). It is missing the factory hood pins and the holes in the hood are still visible. The drivers side door lock is missing as are the front fender marker lights. (the owner has about 10 satellite and roadrunners of the same year and will include these missing parts in the sale of this vehicle. If you notice anything else that I may have missed that is missing, we can discuss the inclusion of those parts also in the sale). The car does have factory front disc brakes and rear drum. All the suspension is there and in working order. The tires may need to be replaced but do not look too bad. all doors, trunk and hood open and close nicely and seem to line up. All glass is good as well as exterior front and rear lights. Bumpers look good as well. Overall the exterior is in good condition for a 39 year old car.

The interior looks to be in good condition for its age. It has the factory "rubber" floor (need to be replaced), It needs a headliner and a dash pad but the door panels look good as does the dash and cluster. The seats are in good condition and are driver quality (but have tears in the seams and would eventually need to be recovered). All lights and interior mechanics seem to work fine. As mentioned, the trunk looks good and solid.

Overall this is a good starting point to a rare roadrunner. According to online information, The 1974 Roadrunner 2-door coupe with a 400 and 4 speed production numbers where 280 units made. Unsure of how many had the yellow blaze exterior / black interior color.

Please feel free to ask any questions I may have forgotten. As mentioned, this is not my car, so I don't know it like I know my own personal vehicles, but I have inspected it many times and I tried to describe it to the best of my knowledge. The owner is just a phone call away, so I can have most any question you may have answered in a timely fashion.

The photos included were just taken a few days ago with the exception of the pictures of the car on the street (I wanted to show the car right after the rear quarter was put on and how it showed a few years ago when it was parked).

Thanks again and good luck!

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
