1973 Plymouth Roadrunner/satellite on 2040-cars

This is an awesome looking car that turns heads everywhere you go! just got a job transfer and  my car has to go. it was originally a satellite sebring plus. i've had car for 7 years and before that spent whole life in southern ca. has a great running 318 2bl motor, 904  auto slapstick transmission(shifts perfect), great sounding flowmaster dual exhaust, a/c equipt with all components intact(needs charging),odometer says 65,000(can't confirm), newer paint and correct reflective stripe kit ,cd player installed under dash(original radio still installed and uncut), ralleye guages, new trunk mat, tires appear to be in good condition. This is a great looking car but is 41 years old and needs a little work.  I'm going to be honest and try to list everything that doesn't work or needs work -- MECHANICAL-- the steering wheel and the steering has some play and needs a bushing installed in steering column-it comes with car and looks easy to install, needs new turn signal cam, guages all work except speedometer, windshield wipers not working( i never fixed because it never rains here in the desert), has a small trans leak, everything hooked up for heat and a/c but currently not working, missing coolant overflow bottle. - bumpers could use rechromed to look real nice, interior is all original. i had front buckets reupholstered. the color is a little off than the rear seat- the driver seat doesnt sit as upright as passenger.the rear seat has a small tear with several seems coming loose. headliner and carpet intact but will need eventual replacement-headliner has several tears throughout, carpet is torn in a couple spots also dash has 1 medium sized crack and 1 small one, could use fresh weatherstripping around portions of windows, driver side seat belt there but doesnt slide back in. The paint looks great but up close has some flaws.along the bottom of car the body work could have been a little better. it needed a little more sanding and glaze putty before it was painted. there are some paint drips also(mostly on bottom) 1 tiny door ding, a couple small spots on edges the paint is a little thin,1 small crack under passenger door(pics), 1 small crack on bottom right rear quarter panel. any major rust areas were cut out and new metal welded in.this car is not perfect- that's why the low asking price. description has been honest to everything i know about the car. its an awesome looking MOPAR  you can drive and get lots of thumbs up wherever you go!. THANKS FOR LOOKING! ask any questions.   don.  I'M  ADDING SOME INFO: i'm getting alot of questions about rust. the rust areas when i got car were a little in trunk floor and edge of trunk lid and a spot in the right rear quarter panel.also below the rear window was rusted.       the trunk floor and edge of lid- the rust was cut out and repaired with new sheet metal. the rust behind rear window was all cut out and a new piece of metal fabricated and installed. the quarter panel rust was pretty small so i think it was just grinded down and filled over. i say that because that is where one of the small cracks are. there was also a small bit of rust in the rear floor board. it was small enough that i had just put a patch over it and covered it up with some rust inhibitor. the rear quarters where the drain holes are all appear to be rust free. i do have a quart of matching paint if you wanted to touch up a few of these areas. i added some pics to try to show the spots that are flawed. the price listed is my bottom price. it is advertised locally for sale so i may end auction at any time unless a bid is submitted.if it's not sold by saturday, i'm towing it up with me to idaho to just keep. if not sure about car, i would suggest getting a 3rd party to view car for you. car is sold as is with no warranty. buyer responsible for shipping. thanks again.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
