The machine info:

Doors close flush with no drops or kinking. No rust on bottoms or sills. Body panels are even/flush (it is a "driver" paint work; done about 5 years ago). *3 owners (call or ebay contact for histories). 383 originally; now 1971 440c.i. with *20,000* documented miles on rebuild ( rebuilt in the period of second ownership-1984 to 1999) .   This is a fast machine & was never used in racing.  The second owner ( I have his name & number) did do one trial 1/4 mile speed time trial test on the newly rebuilt motor (*after proper rebuild break-in procedure).  It did 14 seconds (would have been faster but would need a high output electric fuel pump or long stroke mechanical fuel pump).  The 440 does not run cam "choppy"; has a nice smooth power feel.

Solid floors, doors, inner rockers, inner quarters, inner wheel wells, frame, etc.; original trunk surrounds with solid weld-in center (can email pictures); bubbling outer rockers/quarters, but all factory seams, wheel well partitions, upper splash panel areas including both sides junctions to trunk connections, etc. are solid.  The front fender wheel wells are also solid factory splash areas where joining the rockers.  The passenger front floor may have had a decent job factory pattern replacement panel (can email pictures or possibly by phone). Has a scratch on passenger side front fender forward of the roadrunner decal (see picture).  Excellent original, slightly factory tinted glass (other than the small upper passenger side windshield "BB"spot & crack-see picture).

It does have bondo/bubbling in lower areas & here/there (see pictures). 1969 was a long time ago, therefore giving you some repair skill building clean up opportunity :). Not bad for an old pedal to the metal rendition.

Rare: buckets, center console auto, A/C, deluxe stereo, deluxe interior lights.

Factory Options: A/C, PS, PB, P top ( **with excellent condition GLASS rear window )(A/C parts are all present, but not working); Factory **front disc brakes*.

All NEW seats recovered.  Top material in great shape (no holes); has a perfect rear glass window with a new top lift cylinder now installed, no leaks, & working great.

NEW: side markers, door panels, door arm rests & backing plates; lift cylinder as mentioned, upholstery as mentioned.

This is almost a "ready" driver with some brake work to be checked (rear drum brakes on one side stick sometimes).  No oil burn smoke anytime; no overwheating. If this doesn't sell this listing, I will be detailing the engine bay & fixing the brakes.  Now that vacations are over for couple months, I'll have time.

I almost never want anything but a convertible in any classic car venue.  They are always worth more than coupes in the same condition.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
