Elon, North Carolina, United States
Up for auction 1969 Plymouth ROAD RUNNER this is a B5 BLUE N96 Air Grabber hood car with 383 engine and 727 auto. originally Blue interior as well Originals not with car but period replacements have been added to the car.
Back story is the car was last road worthy in 1985 where it appears to have had some top end troubles . We found the car sitting with the hood off and the engine torn down to the bottom end only that bottom end is CRACKED so we have a replacement 383 from 1965 with 1969 correct top end parts complete from the intake down includes manifolds (carb not with car). Now this car shows low miles and from my experience it should be rockers are GREAT no dents no rot, Disposable parts look to be factory originals (brakes etc) Metal Grill is oxidized but not damaged by any means. The BAD first - Car needs Floor pan work in basically all the pans (comes with passenger pan) we got the car with old school SHAG carpet in the passenger areas as well the trunk and that caused ROT - Engine is not original but was running when pulled may years ago. (yes its free and has been turned and oiled over the years) -Gas tank is missing - windshield is cracked the GOOD -This car is untouched no fixing the other guys mistakes its fresh to restore -Frame rails, rockers and 95% of the exterior sheet metal are in Great shape few dents pretty basic body work for this car minus the pans and a small area at back glass and behind rear wheels -N96 AIR GRABBER big option on this road runner - B5 BLUE has got the be the best mopar color ever this project car is very straight forward, while none of these cars are easy this car is Perfect to build into your dream ride Please feel free to ask questions BEFORE YOU BID I m here to serve, i do my very best to represent these cars as honestly as possible and many times under value how good a car is because i want to under promise and over deliver. Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
