Carlock, Illinois, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Plymouth
Drive Type: automatic
Model: Other
Mileage: 106,000
Trim: special deluxe
Up or auction is my 1948 Plymouth Special deluxe. This is a
3 owner car, I am the 3rd. It has spent its whole life within about a 15 mile
radius. The car was restored in the early 80's. It was repainted and the engine
completely rebuilt. In 1994 the car was put into storage untill I bought it
recently. I went through all the mechanical and got it back to road worthy
state. This car drives awesome. I have put about 300 miles on it in 2 weeks and
feel that it needs nothing else done to drive to the shows. The body is in good
shape and the paint is holding up quite well due to the fact it was always
stored indoors. It does have its share of chips and scratches, the most notable
is a scuff/dent under the passenger side front headlight. The interior is all
original and useable, but discolored and needs to be redone. The seats have a
few holes, and the door cards need recovered. The gauges all work, the radio
lights up but does not work, may be a fuse I haven checked it out. The car runs
a steady 40PSI oil pressure and the temp runs a solid 160 degrees. All in all
this is a great driver car. you can get it in right now and just rack up the
miles just the way it is. Its not a rocket ship but rides, steers and brakes
real nice. Please call and/or ask questions Thanks, Ryan. 309-275-7466 I am offering a 100% money back guarentee with this car, if
you show up to pick it up and feel this car is not in anyway exactly like I
have described it I will refund any funds that have been put on it. I will not
offer this if the car is shipped sight unseen, only for pickup. Keeping the
buyer happy is just as important to me as having 100% feedback rating. 1. new distributor cap and rotor 2. new plugs and wires 3. new coil 4. new michelin tires 5. changed oil/filter 6. changed trans fluid 7. New master cylinder 8. changed rear axle lube 9. flushed complete fuel system 10. sandblasted and painted wheels 11. greased chassis 12. New antifreeze 13. New heater hoses On Dec-08-13 at 11:37:26 PST, seller added the following information: The car is a manual transmission, (3 on the tree), not an automatic. On Dec-08-13 at 15:07:39 PST, seller added the following information: Although this is a real solid car It is not without its issues, it has 3 cracked pieces of glass, the drivers door side, passenger door and vent window. Also the car has a hole in the inner rocker pannel only of both sides near where the fenders meet the body, it has no structual value and does not affect anything if not replaced. If you have any questions I will do my absolute best to get you informative answers. |

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
