For sale is my 1969 Plymouth GTX. Everyone seems to be attracted to this car. Just putting it in the driveway for pictures gets people stopping by to talk. It's a sharp looker, a real head turner with class.
I bought this in 2005 from Northern Illinois Classic Auto Brokers in its current form. Shortly thereafter I had the engine rebuilt, and it has had about 500 miles put on it since. I do not have much other history on it. It is a genuine GTX with a clean PA title, but not numbers matching. It is powered by a strong 440 with an Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and Torker manifold. The engine starts easily, idles well, and sounds nasty. The 727 shifts hard like it should, and will pop the tires going into second. The tall rear end makes this car very streetable and a nice cruiser.
The interior is ok for the vintage, but it's no concours entrant. The repro vinyl seats are soft and clean. The factory AC was removed before I got it, but I have the original evaporator parts and vent outlets if you wanted to restore that. The odometer shows 52,162 but I won't make any claims as to the authenticity. The speedo works, but like any old mopar it is can be hit and miss. I rely on the tach when I take it out for a ride. The right turn indicator doesn't return to center on its own. I haven't had a chance to pull the steering wheel and fix the spring. The door locks do not work, and there are no front seat belts, so hold on.
I had to park it outside for a year due to moving in 2006, and the rims started to rust. There is a also a small rust pop near the driver door on the rear quarter, visible in the last picture, and a shallow ding 2/3 back on the driver rear quarter. This car has not seen road salt as long as I've owned it, and there is no rust on the underside or anywhere else that I can find. The glass is solid with no gouges or chips. The GTX-specific pot metal is all present and clean. It has been garage kept since 2007. This car will transfer with antique tags to a PA buyer if interested.
It's time to sell due to my first child being on the way. I tried to be as honest as possible in the description so there are no surprises. This is a fun 45 year old car that will put a smile on your face and get people looking. Please ask me any questions you might have. Buyer is expected to arrange pickup or shipping within 10 days of sale. Good luck and happy bidding!

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
