Up for auction is my '68 GTX convertible.  I bought this car 10 years ago as a roller/project and recent job changes forces it's sale.

It is a true GTX 4 spd convertible and a project very worthy of restoration.  The frame rails are solid as is the crossmember.   As with most Mopars of this vintage, it will need a trunk and floor pan and quarter skins.  The fenders are good and the doors are as well.  The hood and decklid are also nice.

As stated, the car was a roller when I bought it and truth be told, I got tired of pushing it around, so a while back I put this motor and trans in it.  It's a '68 440 (NOM) with a fresh top end, new rings, cam, oil pump, water pump, pertronix ignition, starter, fuel pump and as of this week, a new battery.

The brakes were done ( master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes) so I wouldn't crash through the garage door while testing out the new clutch and throwout bearing.  The flywheel was resurfaced as well.

The original DANA 60 is still under the car and sports 3.54 gears.

Disclaimer:  Please understand this car is a project in need of full restoration.  Some of the parts installed were done so to illustrate what is included with the car.  For example:  The door panels are shot and will need to be replaced, however, what you'll also notice is that the upper stainless piece and the stainless insert pieces are present.  They are not available from the aftermarket.

Same with the windshield trim and convertible belt molding.  The rear interior panels have had repairs, but more importantly, have the inserts, arm rests and ashtray bezels.  Again, tough to find parts.

As stated earlier, the frame rails are rock solid and make for a great foundation.  A previous owner replaced the quarter panels and truth be told, I would do them over.  But then again, I'm picky.

All of the glass is present, with a few minor scratches and the top operates as it should, though the material will need replacing.

Also, the correct  2898 047 radiator is present.

All in all, for a '68 B body convertible project, this is a very good start. Many of the 'vert specific parts are present such as the rear view mirror, sun visors, windshield trim, quarter window regulators, well trim, rear seat etc.  If you're in the market for a '68 - '70 B body convertible, please take the time to note what it does and does not include.  You can spend a month of Sundays hunting this stuff down.

Thank you for your consideration and I encourage you to please ask questions prior to bidding.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
