1971 PLYMOUTH SPORT FURY 4dr GRAN COUPE, 360, AUTO

This muscular, luxury, sporty & somehow at the same time conservative vehicle is easy to describe, at least condition wise, because it's always been garaged kept & is in showroom condition with only 65,000 actual miles!  Its ready to drive, show & enjoy.  Not only is it clean inside, straight outside, powerful & rides like a new car: it even SMELLS like a new car! Just sit down & breath in the 1970s-instant stress relief! No disappointment: you can drive this anywhere: its safe & reliable. They just don't get any better unless you have a time machine.

The interior is clean & near flawless: with the original rip-free, mildew free, stain free carpet, perfect headliner, un-cracked dash, perfect door panels, etc.  The seats have the factory paisley material inserts & they match the unique paisley vinyl top: SO COOL! Nobody walks by without mention of the top.  The AM/FM stereo radio works great. All glass is crystal clear, windows roll up & down like new & the car looks amazing with all the windows down, doesn't it?

There was one repaint using the factory color & you can tell the attention to detail: the job was down right.  I cant tell you its perfect but I sure am having a hard time locating ANY flaws!  The original paisley vinyl top is going to surprise you with its rarity as well as the fact it has no rips, fade or rust bubbles! You will be hard pressed to find a cooler 4 door C-body.

Both bumpers & all trim is straight & bright like new: mirrors! The grille & headlight bezels are really straight & the power headlights work flawlessly. These have the super rare optional headlight bulb cleaners: little brushes that go back & forth like windshield wipers.  All lights work, turn signals, hi-lo, even the little marker lights on the sides!  Air conditioning, heater & defroster work: no radiator fluid leaks.  Alternator charges well, electrical system is flawless (MSD ignition is only non-original item but you will never have to set points again)

The brakes are completely redone & work 100% with no issues.  It has a nice big 4 core brass radiator with no issues so it keeps that 360 cool.  The suspension is solid & dialed in giving you that boat like ride. Tires have full tread with no dry rot: they are ready to roll.

The frame is solid front to back as are the floors & trunk pan: not a speck of rust... ever!

If you are looking for a clean, unique, complete, solid Mopar C-body to drive this summer that looks & runs great for minimal cost, look no further.  If you have any questions please ask before bidding.  We will be happy to answer all questions quickly & honestly.  The reserve is very reasonable: if you will bid fairly & often you will quickly meet it.  The buy it now price is too low for the cars condition but its fair.  If you want it now: BUY IT NOW because once reserve is met it could go for more.  (check the current going prices of recently traded, similarly equipped C-bodies in this condition)

Choosing a Fury Gran Coupe Sedan means you like luxury car living without having to pay luxury car prices. The ride, handling, & new quiet has to be experienced to be truly appreciated. Inside you are treated to sumptuous interiors with fold down center armrests & wall to wall carpeting. Extra care in engineering... it makes the difference. (from a Fury car brochure on the Gran Coupe)

Sport Fury.  Sport?  Put it to the test.  Sport means clean, uncluttered looks.  That's Sport Fury-quick & agile.  Its lines are aerodynamically smooth.  The wipers are hidden at the base of the windshield making the hood look even longer.  Sport means performance.  A 360ci power plant, our largest small block.  Sport means handling.  On the road Sport Fury puts you in command all the way.  The suspension system-torsion bars in front, leaf springs in the rear-lets you carve the corners.  Finally sport means stopping. Quick & sure with standard front disc brakes & deeply finned, flared rear drums.  (from a Fury brochure on the Sport Fury)

The above (all true) shows a slice of these unique cars history.  It also demonstrates by buying this car you will be getting TWO cars in one: a very rare combination of luxury & performance.  Perfect for the golf course, work or grocery getter: it will turn heads every mile you drive.  Pride of ownership, you will have it & sadly, if you win, I no longer will.  The only problem I have ever had with the car? Simply put: its too nice to drive.

I was attempting to reproduce factory sales brochure photographs... What do you think: how did I do?  Good luck!

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
