1973 Plymouth Duster 340 Sunroof 4 Speed on 2040-cars

Year:1973 Mileage:99999

Mandeville, Louisiana, United States

This is a 1973 Plymouth Duster 340 4 speed car.  It is not matching numbers.  It currently has a 340 in and I put the 4 speed in a few years ago.  I bought it with an automatic but had the 4 speed pedals still in the car.  I just had the car rewired with Ron Francis wiring kit.  Holley Street Avenger and old school Strip Dominator on the car now.  Brand new Powermaster alternator(no ameter any more).Engine has Mopar valve cover and air cleaner.  I do have 73 intake and exhaust manifolds, valve covers and air cleaner that can be purchased separately.  The car runs and drives very well.  Stout motor.  All work to motor was done prior to my purchase so I do not know about internals(definitely not stock).  Runs cold in traffic.  Speedometer recently started making a ton of  noise and bounces.  New cable so probably just needs new speedometer.  All gauges are working except fuel.  Think sending unit is bad because everything else in the wiring is new.  Interior is in excellent shape.  Car had a ton of options from the factory i.e. power antennae, remote trunk release, sunroof, spacesaver fold down seat, map light, etc.  They are in car but not hooked up.  I believe the original color to be a medium blue metallic.  Appears might be a B3 color but not positive.  No build sheet or fender tag.  Last two owners were not helpful in tracking down the tag.

I have tons of money in this car and I am taking a bath on it.  It is a 20 footer on the paint.  Has some rust bubbles on quarters and few other places.  Was a Ziebart undercoated car which probably saved it from being worse.

Best of luck!  If the car does not sell, I will be bringing it to the New Orleans Mopar Show next month.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
