Up for sale is a 1972 Plymouth Duster 340(318 engine in it) 4 speed.

This car is matching numbers except for the engine.  The engine is a 1969 318 engine with a two barrel carb.  The car runs very smooth and for several years was my daily driver.  The color is the late great sublime with the blacked out hood and around the driver/passenger side glass.  This car was originally black with white decals.  The paint is not perfect and has imperfections and some bubbling on the lower panels.  The car has front disk and rear drum brakes.  The interior is the original interior to the car.  The honeycomb wheels were painted black which gives the car a more aggressive look.  TTI exhaust/muffler kit from the manifold to the tips was placed on the car which gives a mean sound.  The exhaust manifolds on the 318 are the correct 340 manifolds. So the exhaust can be retained when you put a 340 in the car. The car has the original 8 3/4 rear.  The car has the original 4 speed. All four tires will have to be replaced but are fine for transport.  The car currently resides in Virginia and there is no issues for the car to be picked up.  Please email me with any questions.  Acceptable payments are cash, paypal, or wire transfer.  The winning bidder will deposit 1,500.00 via paypal within 48hrs of auction close and full payment must be received in seven days after close of auction.  Vehicle will not be released until all funds have cleared the bank.  There is no warranty either expressed or implied and the vehicle is sold 'As Is'.  Shipping is the sole responsibility of the winning bidder.  Please do not bid if you are unable to pay.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
