This 1971 Plymouth duster is a very nice well taken care of driver. Compared to most original Dusters this one is in very good condition. It is an original White with a green vinyl roof and two tone metallic green interior. I dyed the roof black. It still has the original paint except for the engine compartment, door jams, trunk jams and pass door. I was going to have the rest of the car painted but never did. The body is almost rust free. Interior is all original except for a new lower insert in the driver side seat. There is a quarter size rust hole in the lower passenger side quarter. I found where a wrench had fallen in there years ago and caused it to rust. I was the second owner and later sold it and got it back. The weather stripping is original and in perfect condition. The trunk has some suface rust from a leaking tail light. Jack and spare still in the trunk. I also swapped to a 4 speed then back to an automatic years back. This a factory A/C car.

The engine is a 1971 360 .030 over with Keith black 10:1 pistons. The engine was line honed, crank 10/10, decked, arp rod bolts, rods were beam polished, windage tray, cloyes true roller timing gears, clevite bearings, rotating assembly was balanced, hughes flat tappet cam, Eldebrock heads and gasket matched, arp head bolts, crane gold race rocker arms, crane push rods, valley baffle, Edelbrock RPM Air gap intake, and a Holley 650 Double pumper.Engine has around 5000 miles on it.

Trans is a 727 torqueflite with a TCI 1000 rpm over stock stall, (Car really needs a 2800 stall) 5.0 kick down lever and a B&M shift kit.

Drive shaft is a shortened big universal from a Roadrunner. Also, have a safety loop installed.

Rearend is a Duster 8 3/4 with a 3.23 sure grip. Axles are Doctor Diff with big bolt pattern.

Front suspension is from a 1973 Duster. K member is the spool type. All the front steering has been rebuilt. New ball joints, tie end rods, idler arm,Pitman arm. All new bushings.

Front brakes are 1973 big bolt Duster. New rotors pads and bearings
Rear brakes are from a 1970 Roadrunner.  11" x 2 1/2" drum

Front and rear aftermarket sway bars. Front 1 1/8"   Rear 7/8

Wheels are magnum 500. Mopars on front are 14x6" and Ford 14x7" on rear

Tires are almost new.

Exhaust is 1 5/8" Headers with 2 1/2" Exhaust

New gas tank

I installed the factory hood scoops. The wing is aftermarket and has the supports under the trunk lid like factory. Hood pins are an add on. Lower chin spoiler is from Randy's

The bads: Pass. side door has been changed. Body under door has been rubbed. I posted a photo. The body has a good many door dings. Cover on drivers side seat hinge is missing.    Needs a fan shroud. Rust hole in lower pass quarter.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
