1971 Plymouth Duster 340 4 Speed on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:83000
Location:

Ashville, New York, United States

Ashville, New York, United States

This is an original H-code 340 Duster 4 speed.  It does not have the original motor.  It was replaced at some point in it’s life with a 1968 X-head 340 and was totally rebuilt about 10 years ago.  The motor has roller rockers, .202/1.6 valves, 484 purple camshaft, Edelbrock air gap intake, Holley street avenger carb, MSD ignition, Holley fuel pump, ministarter, Mopar performance valve covers, and air cleaner.  It runs well doesn’t, over heat and is very strong.  It always starts right up and runs great.  I have driven it round trip 160 miles once and didn’t skip a beat and that was in summer.   It has Hooker headers and Flowmaster exhaust.  The clutch is 10 years old, the flywheel has some nicks in the teeth because of the high torque mini starter and sometimes you can hear it when the starter engages, but it always turns over and starts.  The flywheel has been like that since I have owned it for 7 years.  All new bearings and seals on the wheels this year.  All new front end parts this year. It has a 3.91 Sure grip with new Crager Nostalgia S/S 15” rims, 235/60/15 fronts and 235/70/15 rears.  The tires are brand new as well.
The interior is 2 years old.  All new seat covers and buns from Legendary and new carpet.  New Sun tac and auto meter gages.  The rare original factory 150 speedo works, but the original tac and other gages are not hooked up.  I use the trip odometer to know when to fill up. All lights work inside and out. Tuff wheel and the original steering wheel is included.  Manual power steering and brakes.  Drums all around and they were redone last summer.
The original color was B5 blue and approximately 10 years ago it was painted 1969 E-7 Cordovan Irid. by the previous owner.  There is no evidence of B-5 anywhere except under the carpet. The paint is an 8 out of 10.  The 340 wedge on the hood and the rear Duster panels are decals.  The silver 340 stripe is painted and clear coated.  There is no rust on the car and is very clean. Underneath as well.  I don’t see evidence of any panel replacement.  The previous owner had the car for many years in Louisville, Kentucky.  I have many receipts and paperwork from this owner. No buildsheet but I do have the fendertag.
The car runs great and goes straight down the road.  It gets a lot of attention wherever it goes due to the sound and color.  The rims give it an old school look which everyone gives a thumbs up.  If you want to be inconspicuous this car is not for you. The 340 Duster 4 speed is a rare car with only 4265 cars being built.  It is a great car for a show, cruise night or driver.  You could keep it as is for many years of use or you could put is back to B-5 blue.  Either way it’s a fun car.  I am only selling to finish my 71 Road Runner.  I have the car insured through Hagerty for $15000 and the yearly premium is only $259.  This car is ready to go for the cruising season.  I do have many more pics of this car if needed.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
