Up for auction is my 1973 Plymouth Barracuda. Its options are: power front disc brakes, power steering, and factory a/c, which is all there. The motor and transmission were rebuilt, installed and started, but has never seen the road. There are no miles on the motor and transmission. The car has sat for a couple of years, but I did put a battery in and spun it over. I believe the starter needs to be changed, the starter itself was smoking and wasn't turning over very fast. The glass on the vehicle is in good shape. The windows roll up and down fine. Uhh.

It has many new parts, such as: new front seat covers, the driver's side one was installed, I also have the new passenger seat cover, which I have not installed yet. I have a new headliner in a box, headliner bows and a brand new factory carpet. In addition I have new rear quarter panels and a new trunk lid. I also have the wind shield trim and some other assorted parts.

As far as the body, it needs a hood, which I have but it is in a irrepairable state due to being left outside when the new motor was being installed. The grill also is in bad condition. There is a small rust hole in the trunk, I'd say about two inches long, other than that the trunk is very solid. There is some rust around the lower section of the wind shield, and the rear window, but is very solid. I believe it did have a vinyl roof originally. I do have the build sheet and the fender tag. The rear tires are in great shape and don't appear to have any dry rot. The front tires are in fair condition. The frame and floors are original. solid and straight.

I have a notarized bill of sale and build sheet only. The reason for this is that vehicles in the state of Connecticut over 30 years old do not require titles, and they will not issue titles for this reason.

This car is being sold as is. A $500 dollar deposit is due within 24 hours of auction's end. The full payment is required within five days. I would appreciate winning bidder to contact me as soon as the auction ends to confirm a valid sale. Please call or text Steve @ 860-938-3903. Thank you and happy bidding!

On Nov-21-13 at 20:33:40 PST, seller added the following information:

"In addition I have new rear quarter panels and a new trunk lid." This part made it seem as if I have additional and trunk lid, what I meant to say was that new quarter panels and trunk lid are already on the car.

One of the pictures is of my challenger's engine, it's a 383 big block, but eBay does not let me remove pictures, and I accidently put it in there.

I apologize for my mistakes.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
