1971 Plymouth Barracuda Base on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:38682
Location:

Sullivan, Illinois, United States

Sullivan, Illinois, United States

Up for sale is my 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. I've owned the car since 1989 and restored it in the early 90s. Just don't have the time to enjoy it anymore. It was originally a 318 2 barrel car, it now has a 360 with an Edelbrock 780 carb, Edelbrock low rise intake manifold, and a 484 lift 282 duration cam.The car hasn't been started for a couple of years, but ran good when it was parked. It has a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission with a slap stick shifter, was originally on the column. Has a 8 3/4 inch rear end.  Its painted Midnight Blue Metallic and the paint is in good condition for being 20 years old, does have some scratches and small chips. Odometer reads 38,682 but I don't know how many miles are accurate. There is a crack in the windshield. The front valence panel is a little rough, but original. The grill has a few cracks but is also original. Floor pans, trunk floor, and frame are solid, no holes. The interior is in good shape no rips or tears in the seats or the headliner. Carpet was put in new. The dash has one crack and the door panels are original and show their age. Have a few extra parts that will go with the car, gas tank, tail lights, side marker lights, and mirror. Please email me with any questions prior to bidding. If you would like any other pictures than what is posted, email me. Buyer is responsible for pickup. The winning bidder needs to email me at man2red98@yahoo.com and an invoice will be emailed to you for payment. $500 is due within 24 hours of end of sale. Remainder due upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements are made. Do not bid unless you are serious about owning this great car.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
