1966 Barracuda Project car. Bought as a Project car for wife a year ago, health issues take precedence over restoration efforts as some days she can't even walk, let alone be able to drive this vehicle. Although it is a Formula S car the Original 273- V-8 4-barrel not in car, was replaced with 383 4-barrel Super Stock, I believe it is a 68 vintage engine. Included in sale is dual 4-barrel intake that was on car when I first bought car, I replaced with a single 4 barrel intake and installed a rebuilt Edelbrock and new fuel pump. Car was a Florida car transported to Louisiana, but not sure if it was originally sold in Florida. Has rust spots on hood, rust in wheel wells, looks as if it has had body panel work done on rear quarters. New front drums, brakes, bearings, seals. It has small bolt pattern front hubs with adapters to the large pattern to allow 5 on 4 1/2 hole pattern wheels to be used. Rear axles appeared to have been newly installed with larger pattern 5 on 4 1/2 as well. Currently has 15 inch 5 spoke aluminum wheels . Runs and drives, new inspection sticker. Does need front end alignment , front tires show signs of inner tread wear. Air shocks on rear. Fold down rear seat newly reupholstered, front bucket seat ok, not torn, folddown panel in trunk works Have not pulled carpet to check floor condition, all window glasses good, even the 2500.00 bubble back glass.. Rear bumper has been painted and front bumper will need chroming or painting as well. Buyer to be responsible for shipping costs, I can arrange delivery within 100 miles of Livingston, La. at a very reasonable cost. |

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
