Original interior vinyl seats, carpet, and windows in great condition.

This Volare sat in a dry, climate controlled, pest-free garage in New Mexico from 1994-2012. I purchased the car last July and have been restoring it since.

Restoration includes:
-New gas tank
-All new rubber lines (gas, coolant, power steering, vaccum)
-Rebuilt transmission
-Rebuilt carburetor
-Engine seals, and valve cover
-Tune-up (New wires, plugs, air filter, fuel filter)
-New belts
-New breathers
-Bigger radiator
-New battery
-Modified exhaust
-Engine mounts
-All around detail
-Rebuilt passenger door and trunk lock mechanism

This car has been my daily driver since I bought it. Did a bunch of the work at first, and finished up the rest over the last few weeks, I've put about 7500 miles on it since then with great response and regular oil changes. This car has it all: Power, economy, room, style, originality, easy and cheap maintenance, in my opinion more reliable than any new car with the same milage!

She's in for the long haul, and needs to go to someone who wants to really appreciate the milage they put on her. This is not a project, and will only take minimal effort to maintain! She's ready for a road-trip to New York tomorrow, if your so inclined.

Now the less-than-perfect aspects...
-Drivers side seat has a scar
-Could use shocks, new tires, and an alignment (not bad)
-Surface rust (not my place to paint her, but if you want to...)
-Needs upgraded exhaust. Almost all there, and in working condition, just less than ideal.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
