 1971 PLYMOUTH ROAD RUNNER - ONE OF A KIND - FACTORY PETTY BLUE, BLUE INTERIOR, WHITE TOP and STRIPES!

You won't see another one of these at a car show! For 40 years, there was ONLY ONE 1971 MOPAR that was known to be factory PETTY BLUE, that being the famous Richard Petty Hemi Road Runner Raffle Car. Then about 3 years ago, the rumored other two cars surfaced, and I ended up owning both of them, including this one. They are both 383-Magnums. I sold the first one to the CA collector who owns the Hemi Runner, so this one is the ONLY one of the 3 that can be bought, especially at a reasonable price! This Runner has the original Manual 3-speed (yes, a 3-speed!) stick on the floor, with a Blue bench interior. It also had a front white vinyl top, with the white rear roof stripes, along with factory A/C, and power steering. The other 2 cars are both automatics, without any white top or stripes, so this is DEFINITELY a 1 of 1 car!

The original fender tag goes with the car, as does the 1978 North Carolina title I received when I bought the car that I was able to save as a historical document. The NC title was from a town called Albemarle, which is about an hour from where Richard Petty resides. For those of you who don't know, the Petty's controlled their racing color, the official name was "Corporate Blue", and on the fender tag of these vehicles the special order paint code "999" appeared. NOBODY ELSE could have ordered this color UNLESS the Petty's either authorized it or ordered it themselves! I also have a good new Oklahoma title in my name that will go with the car.
As you can see from the 100 pictures, the car does need a full restoration. A lot of the sheet metal will have to be repaired and some parts replaced, at your choice. However, the rear quarters are pretty good, just need a little repair down low. All the frame rails are very good, including the torque box area and where the K-frame bolts in, as you can see from the pics. There is a LOT of original Petty Blue paint still visible on the frame rails, along with some factory undercoating. The entire floorboard from a B-5 blue Sebring parts car has already been sectioned in by a previous owner who started on a restoration, and then had to sell the car, so it is good and solid. There are a lot of the original parts that go with the car, as also seen in the many pics. If a part is not pictured, it isn't with the car, what you see is what you get. I was told the mileage was original, but obviously can't be verified.

The engine that is in the car is a 383, but isn't the original engine. The latest owner before me said that the previous owner before him told him that the original engine was available as part of the deal, but they didn't have an engine hoist to get it into the pickup, so it is still in that guy's garage. The car was supposed to be able to start and drive around the yard, but it's been sitting about 5 years, so consider it as non-running.
Since I haven't been able to do anything with the car in over 3 years and have other priorities now, I hate to sell it, but I have decided to find the car a new home. I hope whoever ends up with it will restore it and have it featured in the MOPAR Collectors Guide, as it truly is an extremely rare 1-of-a-kind vehicle.

Buyer will pay any freight charge to ship the vehicle, or feel free to come pick it up, I'm in the greater NW Oklahoma City, OK area, right in the middle of the country. I do have the ability to deliver the car for the right price and some extra freight charge.

I also listed the Road Runner online just before this auction, and I am now only asking $7,900 or best offer, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if I get calls from elsewhere. SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
