Up for bid is my 1971 Plymouth Road Runner.1 of 554 Windsor Canadian cars built.Originally a 383 3 speed plain jane FE5 red car.This car was and still is a factory radio delete car.No antenna hole in the fender and no radio in the dash.This is an all original panel car,no floors or quarter panels ever replaced on this car.This car was in North Carolina from 1974-75-2005 and owned by the Wright family during that period.
It does have the numbers matching engine in it,door jamb vin sticker,dash,tag,fender tag,and numbers on the cowl.I have not found the numbers on the radiator support,too much paint.I have been told Canadian cars had these numbers under the passenger fender.
In 2005 it was purchased by the third owner who then repainted the car Plum Crazy - In Violet purple.He then added many parts to the car most of which were new.He added working air grabber hood,chin spoliers,gull wing,4 speed,back light louvers,racing mirrors,white strobe stripe,tail light stripes,machine gun tips,15'' ralley wheels,bucket seats,pistol grip shifter,tuff wheel,power steering,disc brakes.
Some of the newer parts that have put on the car since 2005-2006 are as follows,inner and outer front wheel bearings,rear shocks,front shocks,chin spoilers,gull wing,Hurst pistol grip shifter,Hurst shifting mech.,shifter boot,shifter boot ring,strobe stripe,front bumper,tail light stripes,machine gun tips,TTI uncoated headders,TTI stock stye exhaust,carpet,Legendary seat covers,head liner,BF Goodrich tires,15'' Ralley wheels with beauty rings,lug nuts,front windshield,Tuff wheel,Vintage Air heater-A/C box,750 Holley vac.secondary carb,fuel pump,fuel pump to carb stainless steel lines,MSD coil,MSD ready to run dist.,all new wiring under the hood and dash,and some of the brake parts.
This is by no means a show car but a very nice driver.I have driven the car to Chicago 2 times,Columbus OH 2 times,Indy 1 time,De Monies,IA 1 time,and ST Louis 2 times.The car is very solid and very straight.The paint on it looks good from a few feet away.But the paint does have some what I call chemical pop under it.There are some small bumps under the paint,mostly on the roof,trunk lid,and hood.The worst of the pop is on the roof.The hood was added later and is a shade or two off.Around the trunk lock has been repainted and is a shade off.The air grabber bubble and back light louvers are semi flat black and the paint is uneven.Even with the paint issues the car still looks good and attracts a lot of attention a car shows or just going down the road.And females from the age of 5-95 just love the color.....
Everything on the car works.But the speedometer cable just broke on me so I am going to try and replace that before I sell the car.All the lights work,door buzzer still works,air grabber hood works,reverse light on the dash works,all the gauges work,everything on the car pretty much works like it should.
The tranny works fine and shifts smooth.At low speeds in second gear it does pop out of gear sometimes,I think it just need a linkage adjustment.I was told the tranny is a Hemi 4 speed 18 spline but I have no way to verifiy that.So I am selling it as a 23 spline.....
Like I said the body is very clean and very straight.There is one ding in the center of the roof.I think when they installed the dome light the screw was too long.All the body panels are original.The only sheet metal repair that I have found is the passenger side lower trunk extension has been patched.The lower quarters behind the rear tire MAY have had some repair but I am not sure.A light frig magnet does stick to that area.The is some paint bubbling near the rear window but no rust holes or anything like that.The drivers side lower door has a few small bubbles also.It looks like someone hit the strobe stripe and the back edge of the pass fender with a buffer,both look like a buffer scuff.
The engine is numbers matching and runs great.484 Mopar cam,stock intake,MSD igntion,TTI headers.I was told the engine had been rebuilt.It has 50-55lbs of oil pressure going down the road and has never run hot.
The interior is very nice but not perfect.It still has the original dash pad and it is cracked in the middle,but better than most.The headliner is perfect,the seats are very nice,thecarpet is new.sun visors are nice,the upper door panels are very nice,the lower plastic panels were dyed at one time and are starting to flake some,steering wheel is new,gauges are nice.
Some of the clips for the back light louvers are coming loose.The hood pins are missing in the picture but they are on the car now.I am missing the header panel emblem I ordered one from Year One but it never came.
Ok by now I have scared everyone off...LOL But I just wanted to point everything out.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
