This is a very clean, very unusual car. It was restored and modified in 1995. The restoration was done by Vintage Cars in Fort Mill, South Carolina and the engine was built by Curt Sellers in Charlotte, North Carolina. The body sheet metal is unaltered but the paint color is the 1995 Viper Red and White. All the chrome is stock and is all there except for the hood ornament. The bumpers were rechromed. Rust inhibitor was applied throughout the body. The power train is not stock, it is an early model 354 Hemi bored to about 360 cubic inches and was completely rebuilt with new pistons and rods. The camshaft is the original but with a custom grind and hydraulic lifters. The heads are stock but have been ported, have adjustable pushrods and with the new pistons have a 10/1 compression ratio. It has 2 inch block hugger headers coated in ceramic with 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust with a crossover and flowmax mufflers. The intake is stock with a 4 barrel and it has electronic ignition. It has a rebuilt 3 speed torqueflite from the late 60's and was chosen in order to retain the original push button transmission shifter. The third member is from the 70's, has 3.55 gears and a limited slip differential. The front suspension is stock with stock torque bars but they are aftermarket beefier bars. Antisway bars were added. The interior has stock bench seats with the original 60/40 split for rear seat entry. It has been upholstered with a high quailty naugahyde to match the exterior colors and has a matching red carpet. The car was originally from Arizona and came from the desert and as a result had almost no rust but for some surface flashing. Even the rocker panels were solid when the restoration was done. No metal had to be replaced. It has been in the dry air of inland San Diego for the last ten years and has been garaged. This car is from the pinicle of 50's styling and has incredible eye appeal. The engine has the pop and crackle of a race car and the torque and horse power of the legendary Hemi engine. This is a rock solid car that was built to drive. It may not be a winning show stopper, but it shouts "Fun!" whenever it is seen and with a little TLC will stop traffic where ever it goes. US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
