1928 Plymouth 3 window coupe. Real steel and extremely rare. 396 BBC, turbo 350 automatic. Tunnel ram with 2 edelbrock carbs. Polished aluminum valve covers. Chopped. White-wall cheater slicks and front tires from Coker tires (bias-ply). Lokar tall shifter. Mallory distributer and MSD wires. Pete Jackson gear drive, Front disk brakes. Transmission cooler. Lokar cables, Lokar dipstick, Lokar transmission dipstick. Aluminum radiator. Polished aluminum overflow. Very nice car. Very reliable. Nice paint. Electric thermostat controlled fan with shroud. Drives like it should. New gauges. Ladder link rear suspension. Car is very nice. Multiple trophy winner. When I installed the cam I talked with Comp Cams tech dept. to chose the correct cam to work the tunnel ram and have good low end torque for a street driven vehicle. The car has excellent low end torque and also has a progressive throttle linkage so it actually gets really good gas milage for the type of car it is. At 65mph only 2 barrels of one carburetor is used. The rear end is a 10 bolt chevy with posi and a mild street gear. I think it's around a 3.42:1. Works really well with this light car. Also, it has brake line pressure residual valves (5psi in front, 10psi in rear) so it always has good brake pedal response. The car stops great. think one of the front tires is out of balance because it has a vibration above 70-75 mph. I can include a nice wheel/tire set that came on the car when I got it (torque Thrust II' s). There are a few small things that might attention. The speedometer reads 50mph and actual speed is 65-70 mph. This speedometer sender gear is very easy to change. Gas has to be filled slow, I think there is a kink in the fuel filler hose. Radio is in the car, but not hooked up. After sitting for a week or so there is literally 2 drops of oil under the car, I torqued the oil pan gasket and think I fixed that. The gas gauge works fine, but when it reads 1/4 tank it is empty. New battery. I am trying to be up front with anything wrong with the car. This is NOT a fixer upper, this is a very nice car. Please ask all questions before bidding.

Please do not bid unless serious. If you have less than 20 transactions or less than 100% positive feedback contact me before bidding. $1,000 non refundable deposit through paypal due within 48 hours after auction end. Remainder of balance due in cash when you pick the car up. I will not ship, but will help load. Buyer responsible for shipping and any shipping cost. Please contact me with any questions. I will accept bank check but not release car until funds have been verified and check clears my bank, usually 10 days. Cash in person at time of pickup is preferred. '71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
