I’m listing this for a friend of mine. Up for auction is one incredible, basically brand new 1967 Plymouth Hemi Belvedere II Super Stock (RO23) Tribute car. In 1967 Plymouth upped the stakes, introducing a limited-production lightweight drag racing package for the Belvedere, the RO23. Fifty-five 2-door hardtops were built to meet the NHRA’s Super Stock/B class rules, all powered by the 426 CI Hemi backed by either a 4-speed manual transmission or a Torqueflite automatic, the latter fitted with the 8 3/4 rear axle housing with 4.86 final drive. The cars were shipped sans sound deadener, radio, heater and front sway bar; the hood wore a large fresh air scoop, and the battery was relocated to the trunk behind the right rear wheel well to aid traction. These cars are so rare and valuable, it would be crazy to drive a real one on the street and this is the reason this car was built. It started life out as a 383 four speed and was completely disassembled, every nut, bolt, fitting, panel, etc… was restored. No short cuts here. The motor is a new Mopar 500 cubic inch Mega Block (thicker walls, stronger, more water passages, etc..) with a bore of 4.380 X 4.15 stroke. Compression is a conservative 10.5 to 1. Pistons are Diamond with Manley H Beam rods. Also has Indy Chrome Molly Roller Rockers. The intake is a Stage 5 with 2 Edelbrock 650 cfm Thunder Series carbs and Indy 426.1 heads with a ton of head work. Milidon pump & swinging oil pick up with a Charlie’s Super Stock Oil Pan. The cam is a custom grind, solid lifter with 566 lift intake, 557 exhaust, duration is 252 intake and 266 exhaust @ .050 lift. A MSD 6AL ignition is utilized. Ceramic coated (inside & out) headers with 3” TTI exhaust. The motor was built by Midland Engine Machine out of Midland, NC. (who do work for numerous NASCAR teams there in the Concord area) and was dynoed at over 600 hp but, it is very drivable. The trans is a real A-833 18 spline four speed completely gone through by Jamie at Passion Performance in PA. There was a tremendous amount of shifting improvements done to it, super heavy duty. All new linkage, Z bar, bushings, etc… Cluth is a McLeod Dual Disc RST with a Lakewood blow shield. It has an aluminum flywheel that came out of the legendary “Bullit” Bob Reed’s original 68 Hemi Barracuda. The rear is a brand new Strange Dana 60 Posi, with 4.30 gears, strange 35 spline axles narrowed 3/4 ” to be able to get 8”rims under the thing. This was as large as you could go without tubbing it. The wheels are American Torque Thrust 8” in the rear with Firestone Drag Slicks for the street. Fronts are 4 1/2 ’ wide. The driveshaft is mild steel, with hardened yokes and 1350 U Joints. Brakes are just like the original RO23 cars, 10 1/2 ” manual drum all the way around. Car has Super Stock springs, all new stainless steel brake and fuel lines along with a new Spectra Premium Ind. Canadian fuel tank. The reproduction Super Stock battery has been relocated to the trunk utilizing a Kramer Automotive Specialties reproduction kit to replicate the original. The original K frame was sent to Al Debevec’s shop in Greenwood, WI to be converted to look just like a factory Hemi K frame. No adaptors/ brackets were utilized. Body of the car was completely stripped down to bare metal, very minor dents on all the factory panels were professionally repaired. A reproduction RO23 hood scoop was added to the modified hood to emulate what the factory did. Hoods hinges along with the door hinges were reconditioned. The car was perfectly painted from top to bottom by Southern Body works in Harwood, MD. By the owner who is also an avid Mopar collector. Many of the cars that have come out of this shop have numerous awards and magazine coverage. The interior was completely done by the owner himself, who owns a trim shop, including seats, headliner, carpet, etc… All body gaskets were also replaced. The bumpers were done by Tri-Cities and the grill and headlight bezels were stripped, polished and re-anodized by Krusin Moons of Johnstown, PA. The car sports the radio, heater and wiper delete look, just like the original RO23’s. The radiator is a brand new, reproduction 26” Glen-Ray Radiators out of Wausau, WI. I could go on and on, but bottom line is the car starts and runs like a champ, and like I said in the beginning, is like buying a brand new 1967 Hemi Belvedere. Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. 'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
