1966 Plymouth Belvedere Ii Base 5.2l on 2040-cars
Henrico, Virginia, United States
Trying again to sell my 66 to a good home. Hopefully no one bidding will be a deadbeat like... not mentioning any names... cuda340chris! Anyways, about my sweet Belvedere. It has factory tinted windows and a/c. It currently has a 318 poly block. I do not want to see it rot into the ground before being restored, so I'm selling. Body in very good shape with only slight bubbles in the normal lower areas, surface only and no bondo work, but rust in the usual floor pan areas. A/C isn't hooked up because of the poly block due to brackets, but worked with the old 318. Starter went out, have new one, not replaced yet. Front windshield is cracked. Brakes have been redone, but exhaust is not hooked up. Needs suspension redo as well. I was driving it routinely until the starter issue, starter has now been replaced, but my available time has lessened. It took me 6 months just to get to the starter! Headliner is awesome, dash has paint flaking. Door panels are so-so at best. Seat vinyl is real good except in the top center of the back seat. Looked like something was glued there and then removed? Armrests are in real good shape and have the all important ashtrays in em. Want someone who will fix her to what she deserves, or use her to make a great clone. I will throw in the 66 Virginia tags as well as anything else I have for it, to include the MSD ignition(installed) when it was converted to electronic ignition(installed) and the dual heater cores(not installed). Chrome is pretty good as well. All trim is on car. LOW reserve because I want her to be taken and cared for. Winner to handle shipping, will help if can. $500 deposit at end required. Pay in full B4 you get. Paypal available. And NO DEADBEATS!!! If you ain't buyin, get on down the line!

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
