I have driven this car around the block and to the gas station, but would need to be gone thru with some TLC to make it a daily driver to pass local inspection. The headers have a leaky gasket, the parking lights, tail lights and rear blinkers do not work. The headlights, front blinkers, high beams and low beams work as they should. Radio still works too! Interior gauge lights do not work, nor does the fan blower switch. The power windows works smoothly, with the exception of the drivers door window. Do not know if the A/C works, altho everything for it is there and hooked up. Engine smokes upon initial start up in the morning, but clears as it warms up. Car has a newer dual exhaust and mufflers with a nice tone, and also has two newer rear tires. Having come from Alabama many years ago, this GTX is structurally solid underneath with good frame rails, torque boxes, crossmembers and rockers. The floors are in great shape, having only minor isolated spots of deterioration. The trunk floor is still intact and strong, having some pitted surface rust and thin areas of pinholes. The weatherstrip channels in the rear corners are rusty, as shown in the photographs. The quarter panels have been patched around the wheel wells some time ago, and would need to be redone. The doors are solid throughout, having only dents. The LH front fender would require a lower patch panel. The RH fender has been replaced with a solid original one years ago. The roof has a shallow dent that looks like it should pop out from the inside. The hood is in good shape & the trunk lid has rust along the inside lip. The interior is complete and in fair condition. The front bucket seats are ripped and the carpet is faded. The rear seat and side panels are in good shape. The headliner is ripped and the dashpad has cracks. The door panels and center console are in good condition. So to sum it all up, you are bidding on a mostly complete running, driving and stopping Road Runner with the rare GTX option package that I would consider a project car that you can drive, once a little TLC was applied. I would say the only items that are missing are the LH rocker trim, jack, spare tire, exhaust tips and rear defroster motor. The car has all of it's matching rallye wheels with center caps and trim rings. This is a great car with some great options that is worthy of a restoration for someone's collection! I have a clear transferable Pennsylvania title in my name. This auction is open to over seas bidders as well. A deposit of $250 is due at the auctions end, payable thru PayPal. The remaining balance is to be paid with cash, certified funds or a bank transfer. Please email me with any questions you may have. Thank you. |

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
